Okay, creepy... Neve noted silently once they stepped over the broken step inside the damp building. She could hear the echoes of their even breathing and their footsteps along the hallway and Neve subconsciously tightened her hold on Tom's arm as they walked in slowly.

Her eyes scanned the dark and deep ceiling above them, fearing something would jump out from the sky. She tried to level her breathing, her heart picking up speed with each step closer into the dark building.

[Tom]

Feeling her grip on him tighten Tom chuckled, "I can walk you home if you prefer?" It was kind of creepy but it didn't bother him much, he'd been in worse places. "If you decide to stay though, I hope you don't mind creepy crawlies this place is probably infested with them." Glancing up he noticed a spiders web, doesn't matter, easily killed.

[Neve]

Neve took a deep breath and released it. "No, I'm not going home..." She closed her eyes and opened it slowly, loosening her grip on his arm so he didn't detect her fear immediately. "Do you believe in ghosts?" she whispered and even that echoed along the walls.

[Tom]

Tom tensed for a moment, forgetting to breathe, he didn't like to think about the dead or anything related to it, he had never made his mind up if he believed in the supernatural. On the one hand he hoped they didn't exist, he didn't want his parents to be aware of how his life turned out, how he had turned out, but then he could never quite squash the hope that they were still around. He needed them, he needed the hope that when he died he would be able to see them again, speak to them. Releasing a breath and forcing his muscles to relax he shrugged. "I've never really thought about it. Why?"

[Neve]

Neve shook her head. "Just a thought that crossed my mind right now." Or five years before for the first time. Her eyes scanned their surroundings, grateful for the dim light seeping through the open windows to their right as they kept walking. She noticed his stiffness and smirked, nudging him. "You believe in them, don't you?"

[Tom]

Tom scowled at her, "No." He kicked a plank of wood out of the way, glowering at the floor. It was a stupid thing to believe in anyway. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, "Do you?"

[Neve]

Neve shrugged. "I thought I did five years ago... I swear I thought I saw my mother again." She frowned, remembering the accusing glare of her mother in the bathroom mirror one morning, and shook her head. "But it was probably just a terrible nightmare manifesting itself."

[Tom]

He looked at her fully now not caring how rude he was going to sound, "Your mothers dead?" Suppose thats why the other one is so protective.

[Neve]

Neve nodded. "I killed her," she said without feeling in her voice. She paused where she was and stared at the darkness waiting them on the other side of the hallway. Maira was right. It's my fault that we don't have a mother.

[Tom]

Huh. He stopped suddenly, "Well I gotta say Neve, I didn't see that one coming." He stared at her as she stared unseeing into the darkness.

[Neve]

Neve looked up at him, her brows lifted. "That's all? You didn't see it coming..." She shrugged. "You don't want to know what happened?" Most people asked that first before anything else.

[Tom]

He mimicked her expression, "Well ... sure, but its your story to tell so tell it in your own time." He hated when people pryed into his life, why should he do that to others?

[Neve]

"You answer so cryptically, it's hard to tell what you really want to say, Scrooge." She poked his arm and sighed, stepping forward. "Do you think we'll find somewhere to sit down? My legs are hurting."

[Tom]

"Maybe you shouldn't read so deep into things, Sunshine." He replied poking her back. "Oh I don't know, a place as cushy as this I'm sure there's a luxurious bed for you to sleep in somewhere." They had wandered quite far into the building by this point, turning to get a good look around, Tom noticed a door to his left.

[Neve]

Before he could make a move to the door, she grabbed his sleeve to stop him. "What do you think happened here?" she glanced behind them at the dark hallway.

[Tom]

Feeling Neve's hand on his arm he stopped to look her, "Dunno, its a bit odd isn't it?" He looked up to the ceiling, frowning at the rotting beams. "Could do with some fixing up, thats for sure." Twisting his arm out of her grip he grabbed hold of her hand and dragged her towards the door.

[Neve]

Neve smirked. "Are you proposing to do it?" She teased even though the dark atmosphere made her want to jump out of her skin and sprint all the way to the comfy bed in the hotel room.

[Tom]

Tom chuckled at her teasing, "I've been known to be quite handy with by hands I'll have you know." He stepped through the door first, just incase anyone might be lurking there then seeing that it was clear, he pulled on Neve's arm.

[Neve]

Neve was not even aware that Tom was carrying her to the hallway. All she knew was that the pain was increasing, becoming more insistent rather than intermittent and she had the sudden urge to cough out blood or whatever it was that was blocking her breathing. "Hos..." she whispered hoarsely, gripping the front of Tom's shirt. "Hospi..."
