Port Mercer began as a quaint, bustling port on the east coast of Georgia... quaint, besides its tendency to attract the wrong kind of attention. It was common knowledge that the docks, along with various establishments downtown, were infested with pirates. But something drove them out of their safe harbour and the town was left to languish for nearly a century, something the few townsfolk that remembered did not speak of.

Most from the neighbouring cities were still afraid to settle there, even with the pirates long gone. Then came the civil war, bringing it back to life- at a price. The town's strange reputation resurfaced once more, however this time it was from the talk of ghosts instead.

But prosperity was not to shine over Port Mercer forever. It was eventually overshadowed by the neighbouring town of Savannah, and fell into obscurity once more.

"Me? No, just a minute or so, you're pretty punctual...have you eaten already?" Matt asked as he led her to the counter and asked the guy there for a spoon. "I'll try the ferrero rocher," he said as the guy handed him the spoon back.

"You don't look too excited," he joked, waving it in her face, hoping she'd open her mouth or he'd have to make her. But really, she didn't. He remembered the look on her face when they went to see his new apartment.

"Wait, you're not allergic to chocolate or anything, right?"

Allergic to chocolate? What an absurd thought. Cedar couldn't help but laugh, her dark mood subsiding for even a brief second. Her eyes scanned his youthful face and shook her head. "I'm fine, Matt... Don't worry so much." She nudged his shoulder and peered down through the glass as the open cartons of gelato and ice-cream.

"I'll have the Stracciatella, please," she said to the man waiting with an expectant glance her way.

"If you say so," Matt shrugged. Easier said than done. He couldn't help but worry about every girlfriend he's had since his...okay, didn't remember which number it was, but three before Cedar. If they were going out. He hoped. He also hoped she'd never ask him how many girls he's dated before, because he couldn't even remember. But the point was, he was quite concerned despite how he liked to tease her sometimes.

"I'll have two scoops of cantaloupe," he said to the same guy, holding up two fingers.
