Completely New to Roleplaying?The
Very General Guide to Rping
- No matter what forum you're at, rp or not, read the
rules thoroughly, and any other guidelines there are as you go along. 'I didn't know' is not that good of an excuse if you didn't bother reading the rules.
- If possible, try and read the rules before you even make your account, especially since some want you to register with names in certain ways. (eg. Port_Mercer instead of Portmercer)
- It's best not to randomly jump into an rp between two people that's already started, you can always PM one of the people in it first or ask in the cbox if you can join them.
- Roleplaying by yourself is fine ocasionally, but it's always more fun to do it with someone else. Ask around in the cbox and see if anyone wants to rp, or send a PM to anyone that's online and ask them.
- Quality over quantity. Don't feel pressured to write a gazillion paragraphs per post, but definitely have more than a few words or it'll look like you're spamming.
- Be polite.
- If you're not sure about anything, look at the
FAQ if there is one.
- If you can't find that, ask around, people will usually either give you answers or point you in the right direction.
- Never rped before? Read a few rps by other people on the forum to get an idea.
- If you want to rp in a certain thread but someone is already there, it's probably not a good idea to, unless the rp was a long time ago.
