Examination Room

[Tom]

Pulling a face Tom shook his head, "Sounds ... nice." He leaned back his hands bracing himself against the bed. Maira had been gone a while, he wondered if she had given up and left the building altogether. And was it bad that he didn't care?

[Neve]

"You sound as convinced as I am." Neve frowned at the clock. "Did Maira leave?" she shook her head. "That girl has a terrible temper."

[Tom]

Tom laughed and shook his head at her, "You know the two of you are so different I wouldn't have placed you as sisters." He grinned at her, he much preferred this sister.

[Neve]

Neve smirked. "I've heard that since we were little..." She shrugged. "She's tan while I'm pale. She's strong while I'm weak. She's beautiful while I'm slight and plagued with blasted freckles everywhere." She laughed softly at that last part.

[Tom]

Tom reached forward and brushed a thumb over her freckles. "I like freckles. They're cute." He tilted his head and peered at her as though studying her, pursing his lips. He then tilted his head to the other side and squinted. "I think you're beautiful."

[Neve]

Her cheeks blushed openly under his bold-faced scrutiny and she laughed nervously, turning her face from his hand. "You don't have to say that... Really, I'm fine with who I am." She smiled at him. "You're sweet though, Baby Scrooge."

[Tom]

Brushing some hair out of her face Tom stopped smiling and regarded her seriously. "I don't have to say that?" He frowned slightly as he thought on what she said, "But what if I mean it?"

[Neve]

Neve blinked at him in surprise. "Really?" She smiled and poked him at his side. "If you meant, either you're blind or you're into me. But thank you."

[Tom]

Grinning at her as she poked his side Tom narrowed his eyes before playfully poking her back. "Just accept the compliment Sunshine, no matter how much you deny it, it won't change my opinion."

[Neve]

Neve nodded. "It's a first for me so of course I'm gonna be skeptical." She leaned her body against his own. "Hey, let's run away together... I'm bored."

[Tom]

Poking her on the stomach he scrunched up his face and laughed, "I don't think that's a good idea right now Sunshine." He shifted further up the bed trying to decide if he could possibly sit next to her on the small hospital bed.

[Neve]

Neve shifted as much as she could so he could lay his body beside hers. She peered up at him. "Let's sleep together here... That couch doesn't look comfortable anyway." She turned up her nose at the lumpy chair he abandoned for her narrow bed. Placing her hand on his chest, she lay her head on his shoulder.

[Tom]

He sagged against the pillow snaking an arm around her shoulders as she lay her had against him, running a hand through her blonde locks. He was practically hanging half off the bed but he really didn't care, this was better than that bloody chair.

[Neve]

"I doubt anyone would think you're my brother now," Neve murmured, stroking his chest with her fingers. She placed a kiss on the inside of his arm, her eyes closed. The pain was returning slowly and it was time for her to take the medication but the position she was in, wrapped in a warmth that she'd never known before, Neve was much too comfortable to ask for any interruptions from the outside. She released a breath slowly.
