Port Mercer began as a quaint, bustling port on the east coast of Georgia... quaint, besides its tendency to attract the wrong kind of attention. It was common knowledge that the docks, along with various establishments downtown, were infested with pirates. But something drove them out of their safe harbour and the town was left to languish for nearly a century, something the few townsfolk that remembered did not speak of.

Most from the neighbouring cities were still afraid to settle there, even with the pirates long gone. Then came the civil war, bringing it back to life- at a price. The town's strange reputation resurfaced once more, however this time it was from the talk of ghosts instead.

But prosperity was not to shine over Port Mercer forever. It was eventually overshadowed by the neighbouring town of Savannah, and fell into obscurity once more.

He stopped. "I was kidding Clemence, Of course you can come with me!" He said. He turned around and gripped her arm before she walked away far enough.

She stopped and looked at him.

"That was a cruel joke..." she said.

Was this the right thing? She felt like she shouldn't go, but what was she to do? Only time will tell. She accompanied him and left.

So this is it, Lucie thought as she lazily looked up at the bright sign above her head. Dull florescent lights in her eyes, low buzzing in her ears, grainy tiles beneath her sneakers. Port Mercer. It was precisely 2:00am and after going through transit in Atlanta most of the people who had gotten on in Trondheim were gone. Now it was just her and no more than five other sleepy passengers. Lucie was walking pretty slowly down the hall, but she wasn't tired, just didn't have anyone waiting for her. And there probably wasn't anything to do in town at this time of night though. Might as well head for the hotel, she thought while walking out through the large glass doors.
