Okay, so it's another debate topic from me. So this time let's debate on the topic, Capitalism vs Communism. Feel free to express your opinions, and understand that all debate topics are going to be modded by myself and the mods to stop people from harassing each other.

****************
Now for what I think...
******************

-Capitalism is failing. Just look at the world right now. The recession has hit every country in the world.
-Wars are continuously happening, and everyone knows why...
- Oil is running out, and we're going to hit a big road block in the coming years.
- The middle class is being taxed so far, that more people are living on the streets now.
-Corruption is taking over, and people have had enough.
- Another arms race will occur in the near future (my opinion)
- I also believe that many third world countries may get ahead of recent top countries. ie America, Canada, U.K, etc...

-I'm not going to bother to say what I'm leaning to yet since I'm still thinking, but I feel that I'm leaning away from Capitalism.

So let's hear your opinions.

And Communism would be better than this how?

Not saying yet if Communism is better or not. Still thinking about it by looking at both sides positives and negatives.

Commies don't promote hard work with their "everybody gets the same amount of everything" method, causing workers to not work hard enough.

I'm for communism. I can't actually remember why, but considering I'm not a fan of capitalism, it makes sense.

I do typically stay out of politics and economics though.

Time for a long rant.

Communism will never work on a country, ever.

Why? As Petah pointed out, human nature. The idea of communism is that of a free society without any division or alienation. A communist state would have no governments, countries or class division. Which is practically impossible due to human nature. It's a perfect system, but only on paper. It's terrible when put into practice.

In communism everyone is "equal" so to speak. A doctor will earn about the same as a garbage man. If everyone gets the same pay, why should I spend 12+ years in college to be a doctor when it will all be meaningless. Of course you could look at it as if you're helping society (but we know not everyone has that mindset).

People need to be motivated. The only way to encourage people is with free market profit motive. If someone will get paid more for doing more or going out of their way, then people will have great encouragement that doesn't require any violent means. People by nature are driven by greed and laziness. Capitalism isn't the exception here. But for those whose greed outweighs their laziness you'll get doctors, politicians and lawyers. For those whose laziness outweighs their greed, you'll get the people working for minimum wage.

Why has society developed? Because of a desire to be rich. Inventions like the light bulb and the internet all came from capitalist countries.

Everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed in a free market. Yeah, some could get a better head start due to the fact that his or her family's wealthy. Yet, anyone can grow to be immensely successful if they work hard and spend their money wisely.

if the whole world was communist, we'd each have about 2.50 USD each.

I like kinda a compromise between the two, everyone has a basic income that's shared, like, let say 3/4s of everyone's income comes from government, while 1/4 comes form work, so if fail at life, you stay off the streets, but someone who wen to college for 10 years will still make more than you.

Or what Obama kinda plans on doing with america, having the super rich rich people who could spare money get a raise in taxes that goes to prevent people from being extremely poor and living on the streets/starving.

Otherwise, more and more people will wind into fail situations do to evil house brokers, and then most of america will just be hobos everywhere.

/2 cents

See, I totally lean towards what you're saying. Communism and Capitalism had it's time, imo, but there are so many problems with both of them. And I like Obama's idea too, but you know, I can't really give my opinion as I'm not American and I don't fully know what's happening right now.

I believe in the Great Chain. Objectivism at its heart will provide the world with the will to survive.

What is the greatest lie every created? What is the most vicious obscenity ever perpetrated on mankind? Slavery? The Holocaust? Dictatorship? No. It's the tool with which all that wickedness is built: altruism. Whenever anyone wants others to do their work, they call upon their altruism. Never mind your own needs, they say, think of the needs of... of whoever. The state. The poor. Of the army, of the king, of God! The list goes on and on. How many catastrophes were launched with the words "think of yourself"? It's the "king and country" crowd who light the torch of destruction.
