Hit Points

HP, also known as Health/hit points (we prefer to call them HP on here). HP is the very health of a Pokemon. It tells us a lot about Pokemon: whether they are about to faint or if they’ve energy to waste. It also helps us to decide when is the best time to use those nifty Poke balls to capture Pokemon. Without HP, how else will you know all this? Below I’m going to do a simple explanation on how it works around here.

All Pokemons HP works like a percentage.

A healthy Pokemon has 100% as a KOed Pokemon has 0%. If a Pokemon reaches 0% that doesn’t mean it’s dead. Yes, Pokemon do die in Pokemon Fable but that’s only if a trainer or its Pokemon savages it to death. When a Pokemon faints (when it’s HP is 0%), you can I repeat can use a Poke ball on it. You have more of a success rate catching it when it’s fainted than you would if it had 10% HP left. Why is this? It’s because it’s KO’ed, that’s why.

A short list of how to tell what your Pokemon is feeling by its HP.
QUOTE

100% = Bursting with energy
80%   = Great
60%  = Ok
40%  = Tired
20%  = On its knees
0%    = Fainted

If your Pokemon faints you will need to take it to the Pokemon center in the nearest town, or use a revive on it which will regain some of its HP.

Attacks

Pokemon can learn every single move it is capable of learning so long as that Pokemon has reached a certain level to learn a move. In other words, look here and use the Diamond and Pearl attackdex.

All Pokemon will know one egg move which a moderator will grant you when you capture or gain your first Pokemon. So don’t moan if you don’t like the move you get, that’s how it goes.

NOTE: When in a battle post you can only use one offensive attack (tackle, water gun etc) and one defensive attack (growl, protect etc) per post. You cannot use two offensive attacks nor can you use two defensive attacks, just one of each!

NOTE NOTE: Using items (potion, X-Attack etc) is classed as a defensive attack.

Levelling up and EXP

Okays, now down to the serious part. How to level up? Well, just like the games, you will have to use your Pokemon to compete in battles. After every battle (unless you captured a Pokemon) your Pokemon earns experience points (EXP). How much EXP your Pokemon gains depends on what level its opponent was.

For example:

A level 5 Treecko defeats a level 5 Squirtle, Treecko will earn 1.0 EXP.

Another example:

A level 5 Charmander defeats a level 7 Torchic, Charmander will earn 1.4 EXP.

To be fair members don’t need to know how it all works, unless they think they are being cheated out of EXP then they can post in the suggestion and complaints forum.

All Pokemon only need to gain 2.0 EXP in order to gain a level. Easy pickings!

Pokemon Abilities

Yes, yes we do allow Pokemon to have abilities here. Don’t see why not, doesn’t do any harm right?

All Pokemon have a special ability which they known when brought into the world. There are many out there which all affect the way they battle. Just like the egg move, moderators are the only ones to choose the ability of your Pokemon (if they have more than one ability which they can learn).

Catching Pokemon

• Pokemon can only be captured in the wild.

• To catch a Pokemon you must first weaken it and then use a Poke ball.

• Some Pokemon, though very unlikely, can befriend you and join you without a fight.

• Some Pokemon may be harder to catch than others, so don’t cry if you don’t get it on the first go.

• If you do fail to catch a Pokemon, that Poke ball you used cannot be used again.
