Loud noises would ring through the delicate ears of any human who stood in the large gathering next to the zebra crossing. The sounds differed from car horns, chattering, annoying laughter to music which was played from the small technical devices which teenagers thought was ‘cool’. Double Decker buses roared passed the herd of humans which waited for the green man to appear on the zebra-crossing lights.

C’mon, change will ya!

Standing within the crowd was a woman, no taller than 5’1”, and looked as though she was in her middle teens. However, she was no teenager. The green eyed female stared patiently at the crossing lights. There’s only so much noise and pushing you can take after a while.

As soon as the beeping and the flashing green man appeared on the lights, the herd quickly crossed the road before the lights changed again. Sierra too followed the crowd until she was safely onto the other side. By then the crowd split into two, going either left or right. And for Sierra, right was her only option.

Today she had left her house and travelled for two days, with little sleep along the way, in order to reach Coventry. The reason for travelling was because it was the nearest Pokmon lab from where she lived. Why was the young female going to a lab though? It’s simple enough; she wanted a Pokemon to travel even further.

Her eyes rolled up towards the sky, staring at the darken clouds above. The grey clouds were screaming for everyone to take shelter. It was obvious that at any moment it was about to pour down. With that in mind, Sierra began to take haste, and began a job towards the north of the town.

It wasn’t long before she reached the lab; however, the rain had already started. It started off fine, but the sudden downpour of the rain didn’t surprise the brown hair girl. Rain bounced off her skin and soaked her clothes as she ran into the rain and up the stairs which led her to the doors of the Pokemon lab.

Her dripping wet hand reached for the handle and slowly turned it until she was able to push the door forward. Her right foot would step in first, followed with her left and her body. Politely, she closed the door quietly behind her as she scanned the reception for any signs of movement.

“Why can’t anyone do anything in this place?!” The professor had a good old moan to himself as glanced down at the keys his fiddled with in his hands, obviously not looking where he was going, which was directly towards the door.

“Backdoor…safe…cabinets…ah---haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” Tribal had found the key he was looking for, but slipped on the soaked floor near the door from the previous trainer. Completely lost in balance, he fell forward. Luckily someone happened to be there. His hands reached out and grabbed your shoulders, but with his weight against yours you both fall to the floor.

Tangled, the professor slowly pushed himself up. “I’m sorry, I was lost in thought for a moment…” his hand wrapped around your wrist as he pulled you back onto your feet. “I was just on my way to get some coffee and milk. My assistance didn’t bother to get any before closing last night.” Noticing he was trying to find an excuse for bumping into you he quickly changed the subject in order to forget about the whole ordeal. “So, I’m guessing you’re here for a Pokemon?”

Her fingers clasped around Professor Tribal’s wrist as he did to hers. Her small body was instantly lifted form the slippery floor effortlessly by the dominant male. Sierra fixed her hat and straightened her soaked clothes once her feet were back where they belonged flat on the ground. She listened to what the Professor had to say about his assistant being lazy or something or the sort. Not that she cared what his excuse was really. It was an accident after all. “Assistants, who needs them?” She spoke with a sarcastic tongue. “Do you have a towel?” Sierra had walked to the middle of the room only to turn back and face the Professor.

He had asked her a question. A question whether or not she wanted a Pokemon. Of course she bloody well did, why else would she be here? Not for a job interview for his assistant that’s for sure. She can’t even fill the fridge up with milk.

And a Pokemon would be nice as well.” Sierra showed a hint of a smile after the comment.

“...sure.” Professor Tribal stared at the girl questioning her personality. He left you alone in the room and entered the door on the right of the reception desk. Normally his blonde headed receptionist would be sitting there, but she had called in sick. Now everything was down to him.

Tribal was soon enough back in the reception and handed you a fluffy white towel. He had another towel which he dropped by the door. Last thing he wanted to do was to break his neck. “I’m guessing you already know what Pokemon you would like?” Tribal waved his hand for you to follow as she re-entered the door where he got the towels from.

This was his office. It wasn’t anything special, just a plain boring modernised office with a desk and a filling cabinet behind it. The keys he was fiddling with earlier were used to unlock the filling cabinet. “So what Pokemon is it you’re after?”

Sierra removed her hat after being given the towel. She rubbed her face, catching a hint of tropical flowers. Now she knew what type of washing powder the Professor used to wash his towels. After her face were her arms and thighs. Her clothes were out of the question. They were completely soaked. Only a tumble dryer could restore her clothes, and Sierra didn’t fancy standing in her underwear around a lab while they dried.

Her heels clicked along the tiled flooring as she followed the tall male into the room. Leaving the door slight open, she watched the Professor unlock the draws and rumble through them as though he was looking for something. He asked her another question, this time she wasn’t exactly sure the answer to. The towel in her hands rose up to her face as she took another whiff of those tropical flowers. It reminded her of her father. He was always in their garden, digging up and planting new plants. The garden was always beautiful come summer time, and the smell was so strong of flowers it could knock you over…well, not literally. By having a plant Pokemon she could always have the smell of flowers surrounding her, and possibly help with the garden in the future?

Sierra though for a moment before stating the Pokemon she wished to gain. “I’m sure Bulbasaur will make a great starter for me.” She already knew the options of Pokemon she could choose, and Bulbasaur was that chosen option.

“Bulbasaur, a good choice.” Tribal spoke proudly as he continued his search in the draw. “When I started my career as a professor, Bulbasaur was my first choice. But back then we only had the option of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. That was some time ago.” After he finished talking he pulled out a pokeball and small goodie bag.

They were handed over to you as soon as he locked the cabinet. “This is your starter pack, inside are five pokeballs and 1,000 zenni. That ball in your hand is Bulbasaur. Take good care of him.” He pushed you out the room, locking that door as you both ended back in the reception.

“Now I must get out of here and get some coffee before the next trainer comes.”
