I always miss these things because I'm so far away. But I'm reading at Carlisle on 30th November. I will be due two or three days holiday. I wonder - train from Edinburgh to London on Thursday, party half the night, then back to Carlisle on Friday, do the reading, party again, and back to Edinburgh sometime after midnight. Maybe... But it might be better fun to leave it to a time when I can spend a few days in London rather than rushing everywhere. I'll wait for the line-up and then decide!

Everyone welcome, for sure. Carlisle or Edinburgh to London is a hell of a journey. We'll be holding some events in Glasgow and Edinburgh at some point. We're about to publish Sandy Hutchison and Tom Pow joins the list next year.

How about holding a Salt event in the Midlands? That way I could actually go to one without having to cross a flotilla of counties. sad.gif

There's always the Warwick Words Festival (just been on, 2-3 days in early October usually) which has been talking about getting more publishers involved for next year. I know the organisers (being their new Poet Laureate, of course!) so could put you in touch with the right people. Or there's the Birmingham Book Festival (on right now, for about 10 days) which appears to be expanding and becoming more sophisticated every year.

That's an excellent suggestion. Our main problem is that the vast majority of our customers are in London. But we're holding a regional event in Manchester tonight! Jen's up there.

So quite right, Jane. I'll try and sort something with our friends at Tindal Street Press in the New Year.

Love
Cx

Yes, I quite like going to London every few years, just to catch up with people, but end November would be a rushed job, and not exactly the quickest route to Carlisle (!). I'll definitely be at Sandy's event, whenever it happens. I just read his Carbon Atom collection on Link-Light Press. It's really good.

Chris, looks like you and Jen will never be at home if you take up all these suggestions. Which means no time for actual editing or sales ... ohmy.gif

I've got it! A hologram version of yourself, that's what you need! Like on Red Dwarf ... biggrin.gif

For some reason, I read that as 'vimto' and felt a bit deflated until I realised my mistake. Much better now though, thank you. biggrin.gif

Oh, I don't know... Nothing like a nice hot Vimto to take away the cold of the evening... I was brought up on the stuff.

That must be a northern thing, Steve, hot Vimto was gorgeous. And I forgot to add you to that listing! Now rectified. See everyone there.

I'm really looking forward to this tonight. A few hours away from the kids, maybe even a trip to the pub afterwards, reminding myself what other adults look like. And hearing some new poetry!

Hope my train isn't delayed! ohmy.gif

Fantastic poetry event tonight! Thanks for setting it all up, Chris. Though I think maybe vimto would have been a better idea than vino, after all. I shudder to remember what I said to Matthew Licht in the poster art section. Do you think they'll ever have us back at Foyles?

But at least I got Travelator, and a signed copy too! Having scanned it on the train home, Steven, I think it would make an excellent Christmas present for my husband. Whose name is also Steven. (My first husband's name was Steven too, oddly enough. ninja.gif )

Your voice in those poems reminds me of him (my current husband, that is). It was particularly the line about how you would have been Robert Heinlein except that you 'tripped' which made me think he'd appreciate your work. He's been a massive sci-fi fan since he was a child and is always scribbling down stories and story ideas which he never shows to anyone. (An excellent way of ensuring you never get rejected, I suppose.)

Need to sleep now. Great evening!
