This is just to say a big and suitably smokin' welcome to our newest members!
For some reason, we've had a sudden influx of new poetry bods joining the forum over the past few weeks. I hope I don't forget anyone in my rush to say hello but a Poets On Fire welcome to David Wheatley, Helen Ivory, Carrie Etter, Lumb Bank (Arvon blog) and Loci, our new techie admin. Hope you all post regularly and pay no attention to any side-squabbles. We all love each other here deeply, deeply. Jane P.S. PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO USE A REAL NAME/INITIAL etc. WHEN REGISTERING, AND TO INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR WORK OR HOME PAGE OR OTHER POINT OF IDENTIFICATION IN YOUR SIGNATURE ONCE REGISTERED. -------------------- Editor of online arts magazine Horizon Review.

I dunno, you wait ages for a 'deeply' and then two come along at once.

And welcome to Sunny Dunny too (I checked you out before validating your registration, you know, that nickname doesn't fool me!) and to James (from Mimesis) who has been posting today in the US forum. I had begun to give up hope ...

I was sure I knew who Sunny Dunny was because of the Betty Marsden reference, but the poet in question hotly denies it. Can there be two well-known poets who are obsessed with Round the Horne?

Shouldn't we know who he/she is anyhow? I thought this was a very welcome and looonng overdue part of the rules - whether here or thepoem?

Well, I just assumed it's this guy. But perhaps the real Sunny Dunny will stand up and reveal himself!

Ah yes, this proves I focus on the contents of poets' blogs and not their titles!

Jane is right. I'm Colin Will, well-known in crop circles, four collections published, Chair of StAnza: Scotland's Poetry Festival, former Chair of the Scottish Poetry Library, publisher (but don't send MSS!), Santa Claus look-alike. etc

You're absolutely right James.
Rik: I don't miss The Botanics much - my last 4 years there were spent in senior management and were often a tad stressful. However, I've got a new garden to play with. I'm in a group trying to restore an 18th century walled garden Amisfield. Digging tatties is, in its own way, as satisfying as writing a poem, as someone once said (except you can't go very deep with a pen). -------------------- |

Good to hear you managed to escape The Management and have found peace and contentment with the new project. I think I'm glad that you've found solace in spudding: my experience of harvesting the crop is a sore back on a shite wage. Which reminds me - I've been planning to write a poem about my spudding adventures for ages. I think the newsgroups are overdue a spudding poem, yes? -------------------- |

And welcome to Tom Chivers, who I've only just realised is a member, posting rather secretively as 'tbc'. Well, Tom, sorry about the lack of a welcome before this, but that will teach you to be all cloak 'n' dagger about things! You could have been welcomed weeks ago if I had known. Honest.
