Promoting Twilight, the book and the movie

Ok, I'm sure that we've all done it. We've read "Twilight", and then lent our book to a friend under the guise of "OMG, you have to read this book!!!!" So, this is the thread to share stories of how you've created new fans of "Twilight" and how you came to love the book and the series yourself.

I guess I'll start with mine...

I don't read vampire books. Those five simple words are probably words most often spoken at first by new "Twilight" fans, and for me, it's the truth. I'm not a science fiction/fantasy type reader, so when my good friend Shari kept telling me "OMG, you have to read this book", I shot her down every time by telling her it isn't my genre.

One night during our daily IM sessions, she gave me the link to SM's website. I looked around, and I found that I loved a lot of the music that she listed in her playlists. So, I looked around some more. I listened to the audio excerpt of Twilight and that was it. I was done. I went out and bought Twilight, and read it within 24 hours.

The very next day, I took my book to work with me, and with the goofiest grin on my face, I passed it along to a friend, again with an enthusiastic "OMG, you have to read this book." Needless to say that the obsession has grown. My book is now being read by my boss, and I had to buy a new copy just because I couldn't stand to be without it for so long. I am re-reading it now.

So, tell us your Twilight story.

Well it doesn't take a whole lot to convince me to read much of anything. My friend, Tiffany, kept encouraging me to read it. So I went out and bought all three books in March of this year and proceeded to read all three in three days.

I'm currently embarking on my third time reading through the series lol. Naturally I was very excited about the books and my enthusiasm boiled over and FINALLY after months of begging Skylar to read them she did.

Once I had her converted LOL I started working on Crystal and with Skylar's help we convinced her to read and now she's addicted too. I think I've influenced about 20 different people to read the books and they are all as obsessed as I am.

I can't wait for the movie and I am waiting on pins and needles for Breaking Dawn!

So, I guess it was a combination of people telling me (you know who you are)..."you have to read this book!" and then my daughter bringing it home from the school library. On the first night we had it, my freind borrowed it and read it in one day and gave it back the next. Then my daughter (who is 12) and I started reading it together....we were doing good keeping up with each other until the weekend hit and she read for 2 days straight, abrely even stopping to eat! Needless to say, she is done and moved on to New Moon and I am a little over half way done with the Twilight. Hopefully i will be able to get done over the coming weekend (especially since I told her if I wasn't done, that she could take it back to school on Monday cause there is a waiting list at school for it)
