What it feels like to Want

Atra whiped the sweat off hre forehead as she crouched against the back wall of the toilets. Her breath came quick and short and she stuggled to open the small black case. She rolled up the sleeve of her uniform grabbing the length of rubber from the case and tying it just above her elbow. She grabbed the syringe from the case holding it in her mouth as she reached for the small vile of clear liquid. She swore dropping the needle to the ground as the little glass vile rolled away across the bathroom floor. She launched her self off the wall after the illegal substance scrabbling her fingers on the tiles trying to catch it. "C'mon..." She breathed before she finally managed to catch the little glass bottle.

By the time she had secured the vile she was shaking and she wobbled back to where she'd dropped the rest of her equipment. She picked up the needle and filled it slowly, tapping the air out of it and looking down to her elbow. She bit her lip as she angled the sharp metal into the vein and sighed with relief as the drugs seeped into her vein.

Vegas made it through the halls with a few catcalls and whistles. There were looks, glances, double-takes, people werent sure if he was a he, or a she. He was built like a girl, only with no breasts so speak of, and, well... junk. Still, his legs were better than most girls' on campus, and he pulled of a skirt with grace and style that shouldnt belong to a boy.

He winked flirtily at a passing male student before he ducked into the girls' bathroom. This was fine, only he had a feeling he wasnt himself alone in here. He made out labored breathing and grew worried. He wasnt threatening at all to speak of: Five foot four inches of petite, skirt-flaunting, makeup-wearing, black-nail-polished-finger-waving Drag Queen and flaming homo. But he was sweet, and he tried hard.

Atra tensed freezing when she heard the door. Before she even had time to hide what she was doing a girl...or was it a boy.... walked into the room. The drugs were slowly taking hold of her body and her breath was returning to a normal face. She cleared her throat nervously, tugging at the collar of her uncomfortable school uniform. She hated the thing, and now it her tie hung loose around her neck and the blouse was mostly unbuttoned her sleeve rolled up just passed her elbow. and her skirt pooled around her legs in a mess where she leaned against the bathroom wall. "I-I'm fine..." She put on a scowl, her usual, and stood tucking her supplies into her bag on the way up, hopefully descretly.

Vegas frowned lightly, he knew drugs when he saw them, when he saw the effect they had on people. Hell, he'd even tried them a few times, but nothing was worth it. Not the intense high, especially not the wasting low. He fan his fingers through his dyed-pink bangs, a bit of the hair he'd pulled back in a loose ponytail at his nape dangling a bit and framing his face.

"Yeah, you look it." He wasnt usually one to judge, or intrude, but he knew what addiction looked like. On occasion, it scared him, something that was tough to do.

Atra cast her violet eyes down to the tiled floor. She knew the deal, and thats why she didn't have friends. She lifted her eyes to this strange person. "It doesn't last long, ever. It can't. Don't say you know, because you don't. It lasts long enough to satisfy but thats it. I'm trying to kick it." She grumbled the last part. She didn't care if she made no sense. It was true, her blood never held anything, not even antibiotics. All she had to do was turn and it'd be gone, and she did that often enough that the drugs didn't stick around long. She was limiting her fixes too, thanks to the nurse she was only down to three a day. One with each meal.

Vegas' pale hazel- almost white- eyes were sad. Pitty colored his expression. No, he didnt know, but he didnt have to. It looked like everything. Like extacy, like pain, like joy, and sorrow, and sweet, and sour, and bitter all rolled into one. Only, in the end, the hurt won out over the pleasure. He dropped his eyes immediately, composing himself before putting on his happy face again, grinning from ear to ear. It wasnt his job to change people, they had to do that themselves.

"I'm sorry for being rude. My name is Vegas! No, it's not my real name, but it is what everyone calls me!" He started brightly, holding out a slender hand to be shaken.

Atra breathed deeply holding herself up straighter to keep her tough composure. After all a tatooed, mohawked rocker chick can't break down in front of a flamboyant flamer. "I'm Atra." She shook Vegas's heand gingerly. She wasn't much for pleasantries. She was curious as to why this boy? wa sin the girls bathroom, but judging on the way he was dressed...She spun her lip ring with her tongue, feeling her tongue ring rub on the roof of her mouth. They were two very different people. The punk rocker reached down to her rolled up sleeve once more covering the painful remnders of what she had done. Each colored tatoo disapearing under the sleeve of her uniform.

"Nice to meet you!" Vegas beamed, shaking her hand vigorously before linking his fingers together behind his back. Conversation didnt get better than this, no siree! He waved at the door frantically, as if remembering something "D'you have anything to do from now till about 12:30? I dont have a class till then, and if you've got nothing to do we could totally hang out!"

Atra wanted to roll her eyes, people with this much energy were normally a nuisasance. But she had trouble lying to peopel's faces, especially faces as sincere and naive as his...hers..."No I don't have anything going on for the rest of the day." She said tersely trying not to be rude. "But...I'd like to change out of this damn uniform first..." She said a little more lightly scooping her things into her bag and hitching it over her shoulder. "I hate this god damned skirt." She growled under her breath checking to make sure she wasn't hanging out, but leaving her blouse half way unbuttoned allowing for the glimpse of her bra and a good look at her skin behind her tie.

Vegas nodded vigorously before looking shocked, stunned, overwhelmed. His eyes were wide and he stared for a good long moment before he bounced after her, babbling as fast as he could. "You dont like skirts!? OhmyGod! I love them, they're pretty comfortable when you get down to it. But hey, I'm not here to judge. I like skirts, and that dosnt mean you have to. Whatever floats your boat!"

Atra did roll her eyes this time. "I'm a punk bitch, I don't do skirts so much. I'll do leather pants and corsettes but not skirts. I play guitar I smoke I drink I have tattoos and piercings, I mohawk my hair. I don't do skirts and I sure as hell don't do uniforms. I'm not the catholic school girl type if you haven't noticed." She grumbled heading toward the girls dorn and her cave of a room. She longed to sit in there alone with her guitar writing or practicing or just noodling, anything but hey, this girlboy wasn't going away that easy.

Vegas was quiet for a long moment after she finished, still following Atra, only silently. He took a deep breath, all the bouncy outright flambouyancy gone for the moment, replaced by cool seriousness that seemed impossible for his perky, life-loving body. He couldnt help himself, he just had to know. He picked up the pace and caught up with her, looking up "I'm sorry if I seem a bit forward... but... why? What happened to you that you need it so bad? The high?"

Atra contiued walking at her brisk pace, and she laughed, an interesting thing on the normally scowling pierced face. "Its awful complicated. And...If I told you I'd have to kill you, welll at least if I told you the majority of it I'd have to kill you." She smirked brushing a loose lock back up into her mohawk. "BEsides we just met, I don't wanna dump my shit on you. You're too happy for my shit." She meant that as a cmpliment but she didn't know if it came out that way.

Vegas cocked his head to the side, genuinely confused by her answer. It wasnt how people normally reacted, but hey, she wasnt just everyone. He looked forward, trying to reprocess to see if he'd get more out of it. Nope, still nothing.

"Alright, if you say so."

Atra chuckled, "Anyone else would've become far more curious if I had told them that I'd have to killl them. You are a strange one." She hopped up the stairway to her door, unlocking it and heading inside to find some more comfortable clothes. "You can come in if you want." She shrugged, not really caring about the flamer seeing her change. She rooted through piles of clothing dumping her bag on the floor and tossing her tie across the room. She grabbed a pair of jeans and a grey beater with a fluer de lis on it out of one of the piles of clothing stripping out of her skirt and throwing them on before tuggin her blouse off and putting the beater on in its place. Now the full extent of her tattoos showed. Her entire left arm from the stap of her shirt to her wrist and her right arm from the strap of her shirt to her elbow. She ran her hands over them briefly before checking her mohawk in the mirror. "All set."
