Forget the rumors of Jude Law, instead Matthew Goode (Match Point) will be playing Ozymandias in Zack Snyder(Dawn of the Dead [2004] & "300")'s big screen adaptation of Watchmen.

Snyder is expected to unveil his cast list this week in San Diego, but several roles have already been leaked. Goode joins Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy) as Nite Owl...

...Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) as Rorschach...

...Billy Crudup (Almost Famous) as Dr. Manhattan...

...Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey's Anatomy) as The Comedian...

...and Malin Akerman (The Heartbreak Kid) as Silk Spectre.

For months--and in some cases years--rumors have circulated that the movie would star actors such as Tom Cruise, Jude Law, and John Cusack. Less than a month ago, a "leaked" cast list indicated Kate Winslet, Jeremy Irons, Jude Law, Thomas Jane, Virginia Madsen, Gretchen Mol, and Noah Emmerich would all be in the film. The actual cast is proving to have less impressive names, but very impressive actors.

I'd be interested in seeing a movie of the watchmen but I have to admit I'm not a fan of the book. My roomate loves it and even talked in a class here at the college where they were discussing the book because it was assigned reading. I've read but I just don't see the appeal. There were a few neat ideas but nothing that really got my attention.

However a newer version that's a movie could catch my attention.

Yeah, I can't stand the comic. Alan Moore is so overrated (IMHO), and that comic is all over the place. I'm ADD, and I found certain parts to be distracting and non sequitir.

Like the fricking pirate comic.
What the hell was that for? Because the artist and writer were involved in that whole "giant squid" massacre at the end?
Gay. <_<"

I didn't think a comic adaptation could get more faithful than Sin City, then Snyder did 300. I have a feeling that he's going to make Watchmen not only faithful (so the uber-nerds'll shut the fuck up), but also enjoyable (the way V for Vendetta was - ever read that dreck!?).

The pirate thing a a metaphor, but that doesn't make it suck any less. (Waits for Jean and Frodo to come and kick my ass.) I liked WM, except for the pirate storyline.

The pirate comic and the novel excerpts killed me. It got so bad, that towards the end of the book, I skipped over those parts, and I had no problem staying with the story, nor did I feel like I missed anything.

You didn't. Plus Moore even admitted that he took the ending from an Outer Limits episode.

I wouldn't so far as to say he is a hack, he was on a deadline and wasn't allowed to use his original plan of using the real Charlton characters. What gets me is that people act like this was the best thing he wrote. I'm a huge fan of the stuff he did at ABC.

Ohh...it was an Outer Limits he wrote?

That's fine.

I still think he's completely overrated, and nowhere near as good as most people rave and rant.

That may be the best parody of the 300 movie I've seen yet. That scene is getting beaten into the ground but that one was honestly funny.

Silk Spectre and Nite OWl are just awful, Manhattan is great (despite people dissing the CGI look).

I hate the overuse of CGI, but Manhattan looks fantastic.

And, why the other two? Because she's not wearing a negligee, and he's not overweight?

She looks anorexic and they both look too young and "perfect". They should be aging former vigilantes and ones who don't want to do it again. Nite Owl should look chubbier, of course.

Trust me, as someone who thinks Joker should have a slender, pointy face, and Batman should have the square, boxy head (and a cloth costume - watch Batman:Dead End, if you doubt that it can look utterly amazing) - not the other way around - I understand where you're coming from...

...but besides that? I think they look great...

Plus, wasn't the Silk Spectre that Malin's portraying young & hot? I don't remember her being decrepit in the comic. Her mom, on the other hand...

And, hey, maybe Patrick's got a gut underneath that rubber suit.

Oh, and if anyone else is completely in love as I am with the Smashing Pumpkins song playing during the teaser, it's called "The Beginning is The End is The Beginning".

It was also on the "Batman & Robin" soundtrack... *shudder*

I r excited about Watchmen. ^_^ I just finished the novel a couple of days ago. Sometimes it was so fucking boring I wanted to throw it in the trash. And Chris, yeah, I totally agree with the whole pirate thing...

Dr. Manhatten's thoughts and whatnot got really confusing at times as well. All that "5 seconds in the past" and "90 seconds in the future" shit was confusing as hell at times.

But I saw the trailer and it looks fucking amazing. :D The photos are drool-worthy. At least (so far) they seem to be keeping it as close to the comic as possible.

I loved the last chapter. Yay! *dances*

Really? Why is that? I haven't heard anything like that... My roommate is a huge HUGE fan of the book and hasn't mentioned this. He'll be crushed!

PS: Seriously? No one seen my new baby pics? Take a close look at the September 2nd This day in history post. Then be prepared to say "AWWW!"
