Very very unfortunate to have this happen to a legend, but... Japanese wrestler and founder of Pro Wrestling NOAH, Mitsuharu Misawa, was pronounced dead after this had happened:

I just read this five mins ago and am still in shock, Misawa was one of the all time greats, Isaw him wrestle at international showdown a few years back and it was an honour to get to see him here in the uk.

RIP Mitsuharu Misawa.

I'm not a big fan of puro wrestling, but I still know what a big deal Misawa was for Japan. And this is just crazy. I'm in shock.

RIP.

My heart dropped into my stomach when I first read this, and I think it'll be quite some time before it returns to its normal position.

RIP to one of the true greats, not only in puro, but in all of wrestling.

Before mass downloading of cool stuff from the net, I paid out for puro tapes. The first ones i bought were the Super J cups from '94 and '95 and a best of AJPW set. That 6 hours contained so much quality Misawa, including both Misawa/Kobashi vs Holy Demon Army matches (including the one considered the best of all time), Misawa vs Kobashi, Misawa vs Kawada, Misawa vs Hansen, Misawa vs Williams... all fantastic. Simply one of the true greats of puroresu.
