Isabella shook her head at Max. He couldn’t help her, no one could she had to fight her war on her own. Yet still the comfort of knowing that there was possibly someone who cared about the mind that was trapped helped to settled her down slightly.

Looking up at Max through the mess of black that was her hair, Isabella’s eyes sent him a silent plea for help. But how could he help her, Max didn’t know that if he were to only throw the doll that sat only an arm length away from him and break it that she would be half way free. He didn’t know that horrible things that Ms. Kiki told her to do, he did know about that many nights at that Isabella would spend staring at the play thing wishing that it would simply burst into flames and he would never know. Max would not find out about that demonic thoughts that were forced into her mind day after day, he would never know as long as that damn doll was in the room.

’He’s no good, Isabella.’ Ms. Kiki’s voice whispered in her mind.

’He’s lying to you, just like the rest of them. He should be punished just like your mother…’ The voice was crude and venomous. The very sound tore at the inner walls of Isabella’s mind.

Isabella closed her eyes and clenched her teeth. Not this time, she would not let Ms. Kiki control her this time.

‘Get out! You’re not real! Isabella screamed in her own mind. The force of her inner voice not only shocked the demon that rested within her but also herself. She had never heard her voice that strong, maybe it was because she finally found someone besides her father that she wouldn’t allow Ms. Kiki to touch. No, Max was her first shot at a friend years and she wouldn’t let the stupid doll control her now.

Taking a deep breath, Isabella stood up straight and let her hands fall to her sides. Opening her eyes the insanity that had been swirling within them was gone. Isabella had won a battle; Ms. Kiki had been pushed to the back of her mind. She didn’t know for how long she would be without the demon voice but for however long it was, Isabella would enjoy the peace and quiet. A genuine smile spread across her face as she looked at Max’s worried one. “Don’t worry; I won’t let her hurt you.” Her voice wasn’t high and innocent anymore, it was mature and soothing. “I’m sorry if I frightened you…this usually doesn’t happen within the presence of others.” Isabella gave Max a slight bow, the formality was something that her father had taught her as a child. They would always have important people coming over so her father believed that it would be best if she learned how to act like the proper hostess. Of course bowing to Max might have been a little much, at least that’s what Isabella thought as she stood up straight once again.

Max was putting the pieces together one at a time. It was becoming clearer and clearer that the doll was not a comfort item. In fact, it seemed to be Isabella's worst enemy. And apparently her worst enemy didn't care for him. "I trust you when you say she won't hurt me," He stated simply, knowing better than to try and convince her the voice wasn't real.

"Isabella, what would happen if I held Ms. Kiki?" Max asked suddenly, a plan forming. "If she lets me hold her, and I take her with me for the day, you wouldn't have to worry about her today. I'll take care of her until art class." It was a stretch, but it could perfectly be worth it. It wouldn't effect him any.

Isabella looked over at Ms. Kiki and then looked back at Max. ‘Don’t you dare you little maggot!' She heard Ms. Kiki scream at her from within the darkness. 'You can tell me what to do Kiki. This is MY mind and MY body! I do as a see fit and don’t YOU ever think other wise!' Isabella spoke calmly to the dark shadow of her mind's eye. Isabella studied Max for a moment and weighted out her options. Taking a deep breath, Isabella walked over to the doll and picked it up carefully. Smiling softly she turned to Max and handed Ms. Kiki to him. "Here, take her. I...I should be fine with out her." She said softly. Her voice still had a hint of child ness in it but over all it was smooth and adult like. "Just..." Isabella's grip tightened around the dolls arm. "If...if she gives you any trouble just... come get me?" She asked while frowning. The true Isabella had once again slipped into the darkness of Ms. Kiki's shadow but lucky she still had enough footing in order to finish her thought.

Max took the doll in his hand, and gave her a gentle tug to free her from Isa. "Don't worry. I think Ms. Kiki and I will get along fine," He said, trying to get the doll away before Isa slipped back under. He thought taking the doll away would help...he wasn't sure...but it seemed like the best idea. He knew better then to rough handle the doll in her presence, because that would most likely upset her. After all, the doll seemed to be like her child...an evil child, but a child none the less.
"It's almost time for breakfast. Do you think Ms. Kiki would like to sleep in my dorm for the morning?" He asked, praying Isa would say yes. He couldn't imagine taking the doll to class with him. Before she could answer, Max heard familar footsteps coming down the hall. His Dad. "Damn," He muttered, standing up quickly. "Come on Isabella, we have to move quickly." He grabbed her hand, and dragged her to a door that joined two of the English rooms together. Thankfully, Mr. Iver didn't think that teenagers would be sneaking between the rooms and had left it unlocked. "Be quiet now. We're playing a game," He whispered, much like a grown up would do to entertain a small child in a potentially dangerous situation.

Isabella nodded her head quickly and placed her hand over her mouth jokingly. She had once again fallen into the darkness of Ms. Kiki’s shadow. As the footsteps continued to come closer to the room that the two were in, Isabella remembered that the windows were not that far from the ground. Grabbing Max’s hand, she tugged him over to the window and stood there looking at it. After a second of trying to figure out how to open it, Isabella looked up and saw the locks. Dropping Max’s hand, she stood up onto her tiptoes and unlocked the window. Once that was done she pushed the window up and squeaked when it made a noise. Giggling and blushing softly, Isabella got behind Max and pushed him toward the window. “Go, the drop isn’t that far and you won’t get hurt. Besides this is how I got in, why not get out the same way, right?” She giggled while giving him another push. Once she was sure that Max was safely on the ground, Isabella pulled herself up onto the ledge and jump out landing gracefully on her feet. A small laugh came from her lips when she regained her balance. “Well that was fun don’t you think?” She asked while looking up at the window with a smile.
