"Hey Spark, see any other Pokémon yet?" Ryner asked his companion, a male Cyndaquil that he had only just recieved a few days ago from the nearby lab. It was with Spark that Ryner would start out upon a journey throughout the region and attempt to gain a badge from each and every gym. Along the way, new friends would be made, and Pokémon would become stronger through training.

Sitting upon the grass besides these two was a lone Shellder, it's red tongue hanging out as it watched the water flow by. This Pokémon had been with Ryner for as long as the boy could remember, and their friendship was quite strong. Shellder had a calm personality and rarely got upset by anything. Nonetheless, he could still do quite well in a battle against any opponent.

At the moment, however, it didn't seem as if there would be any sort of battle at all. The trio was sitting beneath the shade of a riverside tree, watching the river flow by. They were waiting patiently, hoping for a Pokémon to leap up into the air and announce itself to the world. However, the reality was that this wouldn't be very likely, as the Pokémon would probably just keep swimming along.

"Cynda," Spark replied with a shake of the head, having not seen anything at all while they had been sitting there. The Fire-type glanced over to the Water-type, thinking that maybe Shellder had seen something that the rest had not. However, the Bivalve Pokémon just kept on watching the water flow by with no worries or thoughts whatsoever. "Cyndaquil..."

[Red]

You heard a growl. The voice seemed very close from where you were. A lone Poochyena came out from its hiding, and walked up to Spark. He gave a loud bark, and glared at him. Shellder turned his head, and looked at the noise, that disturbed his peaceful state.

"A Poochyena, eh?" Ryner said as he followed Shellder's example and turned to look at this new arrival. At the moment, the pup didn't exactly look like the nicest of Pokémon in the world, yet it wasn't the meanest of Pokémon either. A Poochyena could make a good addition to the team with it's typing and ability to learn strong attacks, so... "Looks like we've found our battle. Spark, I'll choose you for this battle."

"Now, we don't know much about this Poochyena's ability in battling just yet, so let's start out with a Smokescreen followed up by a Tackle," Ryner commanded to the little Fire-type.

[Red]

Spark jumped into action, and was standing a few feet away from the Poochyena. He sprayed a Smoke Screen infront of the Poochyena. You heard a Howl. Poochyena couldn't see a darn thing right now, and just Howled. This boost his attack stats, and the smoke cleared up a little when Spark charged into Poochyena. After the attack Poochyena felt that Sparks was still there, and used a Tackle of his own. It did a little more damage due to Howl.

"Alright, the Howl was a bit unexpected, but we can get through that," Ryner said as he watched the battle through the smoke that was brought forth by his little Cyndaquil, Spark. Poochyena hadn't shown anything too unexpected so far, which was good and would mean this would be a fair battle. On the other hand, neither had he and Sparks shown anything spectacular. Basics were good, yet so far this battle seemed to be between two evenly matched opponents.

"Spark, wait for Poochyena to get up close before going ahead with your own Tackle. The moment that he falls, go right ahead with a second Tackle before Poochyena has a chance to get back up," Ryner commanded Spark, Shellder becoming a bit more interested in this battle.

With the smoke almost gone Poochyena charged into Spark with a Tackle. poochyena was coming very close now, and Spark thought that now was the time to use Tackle. Both of the pokemons collided with each other. They ended up on the grass, and Spark picked himself up to follow your last command. Poocyena lifted up his head by and inch, and saw Spark coming at him with another Tackle. He let out an angry Growl, and Spark slowed down wiht this, but speeded right up again. He hit Poochyena with another tackle, then stepped back with a satisfying grin.
