(Put under Errors as the closest forum because this is mostly my error for building Draiken without much information concerning the pirates.)

Note: Draiken does not know all of this information about the Drakes' history.

Origins

Named after the first Drake, the pirate captain who took a bite out of the first Drake-Drake fruit found. As time passed, his lust for power drove him to take more bites out of the Drake-Drake fruit, gradually gaining more power, but eventually, his bestial nature made him dangerous. The first Drake captain was marooned on an island in the Grand Line out of fear from his crew. A side effect from using his Drake powers, aside from the primal instincts, was a transformation. The captain's humanity was eroding away, as was his body, changing him further into an actual drake. Realizing this, the Captain went into a deep slumber inside of a cave, unheard of and unseen for decades.

The remainder of the crew split up into four branches. Each head of a branch had a captain who each had a Drake-Drake fruit (found by returning to the original location of the first fruit) and had taken a bite out of it for the Devil Fruit's powers. The branches maintained general contact through their individual raids.

After many more years, two of the branches were no longer interested in raids nor the accumulated treasure inherited from previous captains (usually fathers and grandfathers and so forth), but the Drakes in general were already identified as a dangerous group for the reach of its four branches and the power they held. The two peaceful branches have tried to keep clear of trouble and the Navy, resorting to previously stolen flags to avoid immediate identification as pirates. They are no longer as well known for the lack of threat they posed, and their existences have diminished (except to the Navy, who's always on the lookout for pirates).

Traits

Only the captains have Drake-Drake powers (this has changed since), each with enhanced strength and speed. Due to the original Drake crew's split into four by personality and ideals, each branch has different traits that set them apart from the other three.

The first branch wanted to continue to raid and pillage, enjoying destruction and fear. They also challenge the Navy openly and refuse to hide their flag unless for a greater purpose. This branch has the largest fleet.

The second branch also continues to raid but to a lesser degree. This branch only attacks easier targets or when needed for supplies and such. The crew finds no pleasure in constantly attacking, but they are still more well known for the damage they bring when attacked by others.

The third refuses to raid and uses the loot of past raids to buy food and drink to enjoy themselves. Although strong in their own right, they do not attack to defeat and do not attack to defend. It is partially through discipline and careful spending that their diminishing hoard has been able to stretch so far over the years.

The fourth branch attacks when needed but works to avoid doing so. They have light artillery, but no weapons able to sustain an elongated skirmish or battle. The fourth branch has faster ships to cross the sea more quickly. They will only surrender if trapped, relying on the weather for escape. A minority branch by personal preference, this is the smallest of the four branches in number of crew and ships.

Present Situation

The Drakes (at least the first two branches) keep to themselves without interfering with other pirates or the Navy. From unlucky encounters with the Navy, the fourth branch's fleet has been brought down to one ship and one crew. The third branch has not been reportedly seen, and the first two branches have been quieter than usual.

The most recent reported raid was in a small port town, where the village was set on fire and the villagers attacked and killed. The few survivors reported this attack although the details were vague. The ship was not seen very well with the exception of its iconic flag and the description of one attacker identifiable by a scar on his arm.

Loki Talkos, the captain of the fourth branch, was killed and succeeded by his son, Draiken. Unknown to Draiken and Saida, both who have eaten from the Drake-Drake fruit, their village was a haven for the fourth branch, allowing "prisoners" to live peacefully and raise families. The reason for the attack is still unknown.

Drake pirates were seen in Orange Town, although the flag was still of a merchant's, preventing a direct connection to the Drakes. A more recent sighting was in Logue Town, where a captain was about to be hanged if it weren't for the intervention of a different branch.* The captain escaped with his life and the daughter of one of the raid survivors (who became a prosperous merchant), aided by the other branch on the scene.

The intervening branch escaped (with several men less), and neither have been caught since.

I've been meaning to bring this up but damn I have a short attention span and end up posting somewhere else and forgetting... What was I talking about again? unsure.gif Oh yeah, devil fruits. laugh.gif They can only be eaten by one person, after the first bite it becomes just a regular, disgustingly nasty, fruit. The only exception to this, seemingly, is the zoan type with its models. However I don't think they're the same fruits, just generalized for classification purposes. I.e. the inu inu fruit. Inu Inu no Mi, Model Jackal: Allows the user to turn into a large jackal at will. Eaten by Chaka. Inu Inu Fruit, Model Dachshund: Allows the user to turn into a large Dachshund at will. "Eaten" (more like merged with) by Mr. 4's gun. Inu Inu Fruit, Model Wolf: Allows the user to turn into a wolf. Eaten by Jyabura. All dog dog fruit but different models, and I'm guessing different fruits.

I don't think you're too off with what you have here if you can think up just some different models for all your drakes. Realize its a one bite deal because the "devil" in the fruit enters your body in that bite thus no longer inhabits the fruit to give someone else the same power until the user dies. And so that would also mean you won't grow more powerful by eating more of the fruit, but rather the first captain merely giving into the devil could definitely have the same effect.

And since I'm not all "fix it," and offer up no direction as to how, like a certain boss I know. A few suggestions that may help, feel free to use them as you see fit.

uh... drake drake fruit, Model Bull Drake. Not nearly as fast, but by far the strongest.

drake drake fruit, Model Raptor. The weakest however the most ferocious... and the fastest... that again is the Raptor model is the fast and the furious... perhaps 2 fast, 2 furious... fast and the furious 3 toykyou drift...get where I'm going here?

drake drake fruit, Model fire... not creatively named but this one can breath fire and pretty in the middle with strength and speed. More focused on strength.

drake drake fruit, Model serpent. again in the middle it strength and speed with perhaps more emphasis on speed. It has poison.

drake drake fruit, Model armor. again in the middle it strength and speed it's mostly a defense type with extra hard armor and spiked scales.

Or you can think up your own because to be honest... can't tell the difference between a drake and a wyvern.

Well, I didn't exactly put every detail into that first post about the branches although there are terms used within the Drakes to differentiate between the branches (which I've already planned out and still building, but you weren't too far off with your suggestions). ^ ^"

I also didn't know that they could only be eaten by one person. (Here comes a bio edit in Saida's profile. Ah, well.) I'll edit that when I have a little bit more time (currently at school).
