I would like to start this debate off, I would like to kick off with something not to deal with this house but the Commons Committee. All of the committee discussion up to this point have been literally empty, and I determined to not let this happen in the House of Lords, even though we only have 5 members and the House of Commons has 39 members who affiliated to political parties.
Now, on to the bill. I would like to say that elections no longer concern is reality, as we are not elected but appoint by His Majesty. i think that we may soon have Sir Rob with us, so maybe we might have his knowledge to add to ours. Any thoughts from the opposition members. -------------------- The Right Hon. Lord Survivor

For the first time I can safely say that me and my party agree with what they bills have to say. The opposition parties rightly fully amended section 5, and we are all the better for it. I don’t think we have anything really to debate on this bill, since the only we wanted to change was section to get rid of the part of section which gave the monarchy powers to stop elections being held when the prime minister wishes. I am sure the liberals will join my in this belief.

I think we are all as happy and contented we can be with this bill. Can I please just say that we were discussing holding an amendment here in the lords to bring back the original section 5, but the Prime minister has asked us not to since it would take up a lot of time as it would have to return to the Commons for debate on the amendment and the vote etc.

Thank God the Prime Minister advised you against it. It would have wasted everyone’s time and we are all happier with the original section 5 rejected anyway, this bill is perfect as it is and we dot need any more amendments.
