This is where we can keep track of everything happening in producing the Neverhood feature film. (To speculate on the film's content or discuss ideas, use a separate topic. Only talk here about what has been officially released) Doug revealed the news that he had been planning the Neverhood film on 9th March 2007. He said he wants to "retell and expand the creation, fall and restoration of the Neverhood in movie form...no game to get in the way." Pretty much the first thing that came to everyone's minds was 'TERRY TAYLOR HAS TO DO THE MUSIC OTHERWISE WE WILL DISOWN IT'. Then on April 24th.. ![]() We got concept art! Several things are immediately different. Klaymen's clothes, for one. There are some giant robots or something and a very thin bridge in the background with little houses on it, which I think is awesome. Klaymen has eyeballs and eyebrows. That took a while to get used to. June 25th was the next step, when the film was at last officially announced. A very important quote comes up:
Which at first, sounds a bit devastating. But after I considered it, it only makes sense to do that. If you look at the Neverhood itself, it was built only to accomodate the travelling of the game. That's all it was. If there's a new world, it'll still BE the Neverhood, only it'll be a new incarnation for this story that's just as legitimate as the old Neverhood was for that game's story. Or maybe I'm in denial.
Right now, the most we've been told about what's happening is that it will try to 'recapture the spirit of The Neverhood in film'. I can't believe how excited I am about it when obviously it's not going to come out for years yet. |

Man, I can't wait either. This is going to be one awesome movie.
As for the eyebrows... different, yes, but I think they're really cute... I love characters with large, expressive eyes. <3 |

This looks like it's gonna be cool. Just think how it can reinvogorate the fandom =D
>.> Hopefully that turns out to be a good thing... don't want an army of noobs running around after all. That'd be AWFUL. D8 |

I'm glad to see a Neverhood movie coming out. It's quite exciting
However, I'm worried about the new Klaymen sketch...I dunno, I just can't quite accept that it's Klaymen =/ The giant robot and thin bridge are pretty awesome, though. |

Finally Doug Tennapel came around...
Frankly they can change the whole story around for all I care, I just want Klogg to stay the same. And PLEASE let Doug Tennapel do his voice for the movie. PLEASE! |

That's what I thought. People were going people were speculating on the type of voice acting going on, and I was like, just use Doug and the guy who did Willie! That's all they need and it'd be cheaper than hiring proper actors. They've got to be very wary of the budget, but then again, having some names alongside the film as actors could bring in a larger crowd, so I have no idea what they'll go for. |

I wouldn't mind them using new voice actors for the characters who didn't speak in the game, and didn't have a clearly defined voice, but for like, willie and klogg, Doug and (searches brain for guy who plays willie) (fails) should do the voices.
And heaven only knows what new characters will make an appearance, so they can squeeze in some big names there. And this is just me thinking out loud, but do you think that before they release the movie, they'll re-release the neverhood PC game to get people familiar with the world that the characters inhabit? (Whoo, long post) |

I personally don't think so. The movie is set apart from the game, after all, so if a bunch of people played it right before the film, they'd probably be all 'WTF??'. Maybe if the film is popular enough, they'll do a re-release afterwards. There was a planned re-release a while ago, if I remember, but it was scrapped, so it seems possible. |

I imagine the movie posters WILL have Doug's name on, but it won't be for voice credit. xD

If anything, Doug TenNapel's name would be on it as "Doug TenNapel's The Neverhood", not for the voice. But who listens to names above movie titles? Take "The Nightmare Before Christmas": does anybody actually call it "Tim Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas" outside of the old commercials for it?

The new movie looks promising. It took a while to get used to the fact that it's not a straightforward adaptation of the game, but then it would be pretty boring, wouldn't it(Klaymen walks down the Hall of records for 5 minutes. Audience snores.)? But I hope that they keep Bil.

Not happy about Klaymen having eyes instead of slits, but I'm still screaming like a little girl over it.
(Oh crap, I'm going to be one of those people yelling in the movie theater... "HOBORG'S CROWN SHOULDN'T BE THAT SIZE!! CURSE YOU!!!") |
