I came across this sometime ago, it's a 50 page book of the hall of records. I just got my copies today! there awesome! includes pictures and paragraph indents. some of the drawings looked like they came from deviantart or some of them actually here. anyway there the best what you can get for a book version of the document than the hard-to-get inside moves guide. really awesome! pick one up! Wait, does Doug know about this? If he doesn't, isn't this illegal? And if it uses art made by other people, that's theft from more than one person...

Then this can't be right, man. Shouldn't we tell him or something? This isn't like trying to profit off a fanfic or fanart, this is his work!

i guess it's lulu. you give lulu the money and they print you the document. i commonly use lulu. the same user who uploaded the neverhood book also has some final fantasy lore and tomba too. this is common on lulu, you buy the document for "private use only"

You can try and say something on his forum. I'm not sure if he would care or not by now.

It seems kinda redundant when you can get everything for free on Doo's site. I wouldn't pay money and wait for several days to get a book that says the exact same thing right now for free.

It'd be different if some of the money went to Doug... I support that guy all the way.

yeah, i'm a user on doug's forum too and asked him questions too about the neverhood, the whole thing is abandon and no one has correct copyrights on it anymore. it's most likely you will come across a freeware site selling you a "rip" copy of the neverhood for 5 bucks (which I happen to buy 3 years ago). The document is apart of the neverhood, so i think it is a reference from the game, and to buy it in book format means you want a private reference in book format, in case that you cannot read it from the game? that's just a guess, but the hall of records lulu edition has been up for sometime i remember, didn't get some copies until now. lulu books are like bootlegs, but it's the consumer who is apart of the law, clearly on the back of the book it says "no commerical value and for private use only."

No copyrights on it anymore? Damn, that could be useful.

Yeah, I heard that the copyrights are all over the place, so nobody has a solid hold on it anymore. If I had the money and wanted to buy all the rights to the Neverhood franchise and everything related to it, it probably wouldn't happen. But I still consider Doug the real owner.

By that logic, I could truly make Gemsa and everything related to her my own and keep references to the 'Hood and be fine?

Yep. I imagine Doug's pretty easy with it anyway... he doesn't seem like the "sue your ass off Disney style" type.
I printed off the Chronicles and stapled them together into a booklet. Took some hardcore maths to get it right.
Pity I suck at maths and printed it backwards.

reminds me of the neverhood movie, doug tries to resurrect the franchise, but movie producers fail the deal. dumb.gif

I think the best way to make the neverhood popular again is to tell people about it and produce new things (such as the recent news on terry s taylor on a neverhood-like soundtrack). a bootleg or unofficial copy of something related to the universe of the neverhood is a good thing, people will have access to learn more about it. the money goes to the dealer and not the host-creator. so the money you buy the hall of records book goes to lulu, not the guy who made a document of it. the hall of records is already free to read online, so it would make sense to make a "free document" to be in a low cost book format by a free publishing company (like lulu). so yeah, there's no rights on the neverhood, people have to tell each other about it until one day doug will (if) resurrect it again.

I'm hoping that in three year's time, I'll be able to help bring the Neverhood back. I'll be finishing my first and sadly last year of Animation so I can transfer into Graphic Design instead. My teachers say that my character designing and storytelling skills are strong, and that I'd be much better-off making books, comics and graphic novels than going into animating. They say that I'd have much more freedom, time and creative input if I did my own work, rather than working for a big company and pretty much being a machine who animates somebody else's stories and ideas.

If I can learn everything there is to know about making books and comics, then hell yeah, I'd help the Neverhood in any way I can! The ideas that we make here are great for practice and ideas, especially if I can start that comic game soon and get our creative juices flowin'!
