Based on our experience and the community, I'm happy to announce that NeDi (.w) will receive Beta status!
* I've improved the calendar usage in the frontend. Date and Time can be selected in Devices- and Nodes-List now. * Monitoring overhauled * Devices-Table is grouped by rooms (if available). * New Vlan Information in Devices-Status * Changed some icons to be more intuitive Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |

This is going somewhere, I swear!
(I intend to use DB information to plot graphs. This could be helpful to find anomalies based on statistical distribution, just like code breaking. I don't know where this leads to, or if it's going to be of any use. But this little test is the first step towards such a tool). Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |

.w will be released soon. But I want to resolve some of the open issues first. A couple things I've addressed so far:
* seedlists can be specified now with the -u option. (* In case you have different runs you can use -a to prevent certain tables (interfaces, vlans, networks and links) to be overwritten. It's important you schedule the runs properly, since overlapping discoveries may mess up your DB!. ) |

Something new about .w ? Year 2005 is ending soon :-) (you told us "soon" on 30.09.) Have some time at work to test new versions between the years ... Greetings from Germany JB |

Done:
* Nodes management is more efficient now. Amongst other changes are IPs and DNS names chached now! * IF Value became Metric (since it's not a value anyway). * Device Status features a links table now. Todo: * ssh * improve device linking .w will need a DB update, so the easiest thing to do is a nedi.pl -i first (maybe backup user, monitoring and configs first) |

Ok, good job! and now? Do you like us to test this version now or should we wait till .w is "ready" ? Same download links as always? Greetings JB |

As of today (in .w), you can use arpwatch to resolve MAC to IP associations. This is helpful, if you run NeDi in an isolated, flat network, with no usable router.

Lots of code cleanup done today. The -d and -v (-V is gone) options are a lot more streamlined now.
Entity MIB supported! (That's an old one off the todo list) I also got to implement some improvements for Cisco AP1200s. For example the radio interfaces show up as modules now... |

Support for AP1200's "show bridge" even with vlans.
Call me mad, but they tested the alarm system here at PSI yesterday. Now NeDi features genuine PSI alarms for monitoring alerts |

How does one get a look at 1.0.w? I see 1 April as the
release date, yet I also see that people are already testing it. Thanks, bkm pdx, oregon, usa |

Soon, I promise. I know its release has been lingering around for way too long, but I think it's worth the wait! Just a couple items on that:
* Parallelized SNMP monitoring (faaaaast) * RRD integration! (longterm BW monitoring for each network port!) * Device Status can be used (limited), even if a device is down to review traffic etc. * Lots of code cleanup, bugfixes, cosmetic changes und GUI improvements... And last but not least, I've been working on a new homepage as well... |
