Has been approved. Kinda like the idea of every team playing a home and home.

I am very much in favor of the home and home, but they didn't need to realign the conferences to do that. I am not sure I like having unbalanced conferences though.

Whats also interesting now is the way they have the playoff format, teams from the same conference could in theory, meet in the cup final.

there are already issues with how the "divisions" or "conferences" are set up right now.

look at the southeast. teams would have barely made or not at of all made the playoffs if it werent for the automatic birth.

there will always be some issues with the alignment.

I like the route they're taking.. I can see Detroit being a little upset they're not moving East now! With 16 teams in the West and 14 in the East, I can see Toronto/Hamilton/Quebec rounding the # to 32 in 3-4 yrs.

Are you referring to the current East-West conference that will no longer exist or the newly formed conferences?

I think the potential for situations like that would be less than what is possible the new system. However, with the first two playoff rounds within your conference, I think it will add to rivalries, which would be cool.

n/m, apparently the article i read, has now been edited, and what they had originally typed must be wrong. It originally said that potential would of been there for 2 teams from the same conference (proposed split of 4) could meet in the finals due to some reseeding. But its now been edited and that part doesnt exist. Only states, top 4 teams from each conference move on, then they play 1 vs 4, 2vs 3 then winner of those play each other, then winner of that moves onto basically the final 4, then the final 2, then winner of final 2 is your cup champs.

**edit** i guess now everything after the 2nd round is just speculation, and that it will be left to the GMs to decide next year.
