(why do i have to be the one to decide where it's going. someone can take it anywhere they want... fine. in the confusion, an agent of Mikhail's set up a perimeter of devices around the area where the agents at. activating the perimeter, it creates an isolated barrier, separating the agents from the world around them. there are no outside noises or effects like wind. i was bored and trying to throw something out to give someone an opportunity to try something more exciting, but since you need a strict plot, this is the best i can offer on short notice.)

"That still doesn't explain the silence," Enzo said. "Moments ago people were screaming and shouting."
Matt checked his watch.
"Something is jamming the frequency of my watch. I can't reach M.A.V.I.C."

"Maybe something is interfering. Why dont we just walk back to M.A.V.I.C. and find out what's going on. I'm sure he knows," Sabrina said as she started walking back.

Enzo paused for a second, then reacted.
"Sabrina, wait," he said, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her back. "There's more static in the air than usual. Especially the closer you go this way." He put his arm out towards where Sabrina was walking, and took a few steps forward. Suddenly the hair on his arms began to stand up. Enzo pulled his arm back. Then, curious, he moved his hand toward the static, finger stretched out. Suddenly a jolt hit him and surged up his finger. He quickly pulled back.
"Yowch. It's some sort of energy field."

"An energy field?" Sabrina asked, extending her hand towards the static and pulled it back. "Now what?"

"Good question," Matt said. "Enzo?"
"I'm thinking... Your M.A.V.I.C. has an energy stabilization probe for stuff like this. Only we can't reach him because this field cuts off transmission."
"Why didn't the Agency come up with something to fix that?"
"I'm not a techie, don't ask me. Maybe I can dig us out." Enzo felt the ground. "It's not very soft," he said, but proceeded to wedge his clawed hand into the earth.

Sabrina folded her arms casually across her chest.
"I'm not as smart and experienced as you guys, but wouldn't you think that who are whatever put up this field would think about the fact that you might dig under it and make it so you couldn't? Isnt that possible? Maybe..?" she said.

"Depends on how new this tech is," Enzo said. "Most energy fields dissipate a few feet below the surface due to minerals that negate the field. So if we just get deep enough..." Enzo pulled up a chunk of soil.

Rizer straitened when he felt the field go up around him, then slumped back into his position against the wall. Everyone around him was staring wide eyed at the door, as if someone with a death wish were going to come bursting through. Rizer looked over their heads and found the teacher, almost panicked with fear, trying to calm down the waitress. Rizer snorted and slowly made his way to the door, if he could only escape this little room of deer his odds would be easier all around.

Sabrina sighed.
"You keep digging. I'm gonna walk around and see if I can find M.A.V.I.C. and get his attention," she said, before walking off.

((Hazel, you could interact somehow with us now. It would really move the story, although I really do enjoy this whole 'digging a hole' thing...))

Matt stood and looked around, unsure of what to do.
"So, uh... I guess I'll just be right here," he said.
A muffled response came from below the surface of the ground.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" Matt asked.
Enzo popped his head up. "I said, you should be trying to think of a back-up plan out of here. I mean, after all, you're one of the top agents."
"I'm the best at taking down Mikhail. This... this is unexpected."
Another muffled response from below the ground.
"What? Don't talk to me when you're down there..."
"I said, expect the unexpected," Enzo said, coming up again. "Now let me dig."
"Fine." Matt said, crossing his arms and glaring as Enzo went back to digging. Matt looked around momentarily before strolling away.

Sabrina knelt down on the ground near Enzo's hole.
"How's it look?" she asked into the hole.

Enzo popped up out of the hole.
"The energy field goes deeper than I planned. I'm only about halfway done," Enzo said, picking dirt from his wolfish claws. "Did you find M.A.V.I.C. or is he outside the field?"

Matt looked around. Too much of the campus was outside the energy barrier. He could see the cops on the other side of the barrier, soundless, walking the handcuffed shooter towards a police car. He looked around some more. The only thing accessible within the barrier was a coffee shop.
"Hmm." Matt began walking over.

Rizer finally made it to the outside after walking past the sheep still huddled in the freezer. A smirk touched his mouth as he saw Matt and dirt flying from a hole not two feet from him. Putting on the budy budy college attitude he gave Matt a grin and walked over to him. "Did you see that guy with the gun?" he asked looking around.

Sabrina sighed and plopped on the ground on her butt.
"He's outside the barrier and I cant get him to notice me," sabrina said, looking around. "Hey, who's that talking to Matt?"

Enzo popped (gah, I keep typing 'pooped' first...) up and looked towards Matt.
"Isn't that our suspicious little follower?" Enzo asked, sternly.

"Uh, I didn't really get a good look," Matt said. "But it looks like the police have taken care of him..."

Sabrina squinted, looking at the person talking to Matt.
"Yeah, it is," she said. "Wonder what he wants."
