I knew there were comics, but recently our member Myrm has put up cover scans on their web site Mighty Max.co.uk, and they are very intresting. Has anyone else read these comics? Since they link with villains like Skull Warrior and others not used in the TV show, i'm very intrested to see how they were characterised. Anyway use this topic to do any comic related discussion!

Actually I have been lokking for scans of the comics off the back of the mighty max packages.

They were so cool. Anyone have a scanner and could they scan them and upload them here or somewhere? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

I remember the comics quite well - they used some characters not in the tv show, like Skull warrior and... um... the doctor and his monster from Skull Dungeon.

Some of the stories used the characters as they appeared in the T.V show - Spike and Ravendark both appeared in stories looking as they did in the T.V show and with similar motivations, but they seemed part of a different continuity.

In the 'Doom Dragon' comic, Ravendark woke up the Doom Dragon, but it was not at the behest of Loki/Skullmaster, and it was not quite the earth-splitting apocalyptic event as presented in the cartoon. It ended with Ravendark getting unceromoniously snapped up and eaten by a smaller, greener dragon.

In the Spike comic, Spike was found frozen in a block of ice - possibly by the same english archaeologist as in the cartoon, but I may be getting confused - and he certainly had some personal conflict with Norman... This story may have been a sequel to the 'Norman's Conquest' episode, or it might have been a different version of the same story.

I remember the last two issues I bought - possibly the last two issues produced - involved Max, Virgil and Norman heading to Dragon Isle where Skullmaster had reforged the crystal of souls. By the end of the story Max had managed to 're-smash' (yes, it's a word) the crystal and bugger off back home. The zillards, Skullmaster and Warmonger all appeared and acted like their T.V show counterparts.

My guess is the artists were given stills and basic overviews from the T.V show, but widely free to make up their own stories. It was a good comic, but even at a young age I remember cringeing at the puns on the covers, which kept up the tradition of the terrible word-play on the comics on the back of the toy packaging.

If so, I think we would all love it if the covers and pages were scanned up here.

I remember seeing the covers on that website (which has since been removed). If nobody has the scans for the actual comic, does anyone have the cover pictures that were on that site? I am kicking myself for not saving them when I first saw them last year or whenever...

I wonder if the zombie one involved Zomboid or the Hand doom zone... I check the UK ebay quite often for any of the comics, but with no luck. Maybe one day!
