Title: McKinnon Home
Harry - February 7, 2010 04:11 AM (GMT)
The home of the McKinnons.
Porschia - February 7, 2010 04:27 AM (GMT)
Porschia was so happy that her entire drive to Harry's house, she kept touching her leg and sighing in happiness. She could feel her leg, the pale, rough skin of her leg. She didn't care about that; she could actually move without that funny hobble walk.
She'd even forgot to call Harry before coming over. But there she stood, at his front door, knocking.
Harry - February 7, 2010 05:29 AM (GMT)
Tracy McKinnon paused when she heard the door ring. "You're not expecting someone are you, Amber?"
"Not me...but Harry is," she smiled.
"Harry?"
He stood to his feet and walked to the door, opening it to find Porschia standing there. "Hey. You didn't call me."
Porschia - February 7, 2010 08:37 PM (GMT)
"I'm so so sorry Harry. It totally slipped my mind," she said, pressing her hand against her head and shaking it. "I was just so happy ..." She stuck her foot out and shook it. "See, no cast. I got my sexy leg back." Porschia began to laugh softly, looking up at him with her glassy silver eyes.
"If it's a bad time ..." She bit her lip softly.
Harry - February 10, 2010 10:15 PM (GMT)
"It's not a bad time," Harry smiled, happy to see that her leg was free. "Come in."
His mother wiped her hands on her apron and took a peek at the front door. "Who is it, Harry?"
"This is Porschia, Mom."
Her lips curled into a smile. "The one's he's been raving about? So nice to meet you."
Porschia - February 10, 2010 10:22 PM (GMT)
"I'm glad I wasn't interrupting your evening," she beamed up at him as she entered the house and smiled when Harry's mom peeked her head out.
Porschia blushed at the mothers acknowledgement and held out her hand to shake hers. "It's so nice to meet you,"
Harry - February 10, 2010 10:49 PM (GMT)
Mrs. McKinnon shook the young girl's hand and smiled. "I'm sure you're relieved to have your cast off. Harry says you suffered a lot."
Porschia - February 10, 2010 10:52 PM (GMT)
"Oh goodness, yes," she said, looking down and moving her leg again. "It was really horrible to be cast up all summer. Thankfully Harry was there," said Porschia with a bright smile. When she said his name, her stomach bubbled lightly.
"It smells really delicious in here."
Harry - February 20, 2010 04:09 PM (GMT)
"I'm making a pot roast," Tracy answered easily, slipping her hands into the pockets of the apron. "Would you like to stay four dinner?"
Three pairs of silver eyes landed on Porschia's face, waiting expectantly for her answer.
Porschia - February 20, 2010 10:45 PM (GMT)
Porschia was on the hungry side and it smelled terribly good. She could feel her stomach begin to growl at the delicious scents. Pot roast. It has been a long time since she'd had some good food like that; some true authentic home cooking.
"I'd love to stay for dinner," she beamed.
Amber - February 20, 2010 11:22 PM (GMT)
Harry's mom smiled. "Amber, set the table for five, please."
The younger girl began to do her chore. "So, Porschia, did it hurt when they took the cast off?"
Porschia - February 20, 2010 11:28 PM (GMT)
Porschia nodded. "It actually did, a little. They had to use this little saw thingee to cut into it but after it came off it felt weird, in a good way. Thank goodness it's off and no more accidents at camp." She laughed softly.
Harry - February 20, 2010 11:39 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, no more accidents, please," Harry's brow creased.
Porschia - February 20, 2010 11:42 PM (GMT)
"Yeah but you have to thank my little accident for us being friends, you know," she said, bumping him with her hip. "If it wasn't for my bummed leg I don't think we would have talked much to each other."
Harry - March 13, 2010 12:27 AM (GMT)
"You think so?" Harry questioned, leaning against the counter to look at her.
Porschia - March 13, 2010 12:29 AM (GMT)
"Well, I don't know. You did talk to me when we first got to camp but for a while I didn't see you until I was sitting on the sidelines looking completely defeat." She smiled at him.
"You made me laugh so hard the day you came and sat by me. And I don't know ... I got a little soft stop for you," she teased him but there was more to it then she wanted to admit.
"Besides, you were off to college soon and I'd be stuck at Hech so ... yeah, difference."
Harry - March 13, 2010 12:38 AM (GMT)
Harry nodded with a laugh. "That's all very true, Porschia. Your injury brought me the good fortune of being able to get to know you."
Porschia - March 13, 2010 12:44 AM (GMT)
"Good fortune?" It made her blush a shade of pink, turning back to look around their nice home. "That's very flattering Harry." She cleared her throat and tapped her un-cast foot on the floor. "Do you mind getting me something to drink. I'm parched."
Harry - March 13, 2010 12:58 AM (GMT)
"I'll get it," Amber was already in the fridge, so she pulled out a bottle of water and handed it to Porschia. "Or do you want juice?"
Porschia - March 13, 2010 01:02 AM (GMT)
"This is fine. That's Amber," said Porschia, twisting off the cap and drinking a few sips of the water. "So are you going to take me on a tour of your house or you going to keep torturing me with this great smell of food?"
Harry - March 13, 2010 02:38 AM (GMT)
Mrs. McKinnon nudged her son. "Yes, Harry. Give her a tour."
"Alright," he shrugged. "It's no mansion, but..."
Porschia - March 13, 2010 02:56 AM (GMT)
Porschia automatically looped her arm through his as he led her out of the kitchen. "I wouldn't mind living in a house like this. It's still beautiful and your mom has done awesome with the decor," said Porschia, sliding her hands along the wallpapered walls and looking at all the photos along it. She stopped and walked over to a portrait of two small toddlers.
"Cute. This is you and Amber, right?"
Harry - March 13, 2010 03:11 AM (GMT)
Harry laughed. "Not quite...that's my cousin, Beverly. She's like two months older than me, and we're pretty close. Amber wasn't even born yet."
Porschia - March 13, 2010 03:18 AM (GMT)
"You're still as cute then as you are now," she said, without paying any mind to what she was saying. Smiling, she walked over to his side and allowed him to continue. "How long have you lived in Metropolis again? Or were you born here?"
Harry - March 13, 2010 03:29 AM (GMT)
Harry took her compliment and let a smile grace his lips. "I was born in Michigan, but we moved here after Amber was born."
Porschia - March 13, 2010 03:33 AM (GMT)
Porschia couldn't stop smiling and bit down on her lip to keep from cheesing the entire afternoon. "I was born and raised here so Metropolis is definitely home. I've been a lot of cool places but I really love it here especially since I have great people in my life."
Pausing, she turned to Harry. "So do you have any plans for Spring Break? Do you get a spring break?" she asked, not sure what his college schedule was like.
Harry - March 13, 2010 05:16 PM (GMT)
Harry shrugged. "Not really. I was planning on hanging out with some of my floormates on the beach somewhere, but they bailed. Pricks," he laughed. "So now, no, I don't have any plans."
Porschia - March 13, 2010 06:24 PM (GMT)
"Me neither. I wanted to do something with Autumn but I heard her family and Trevor's family are planning some joint family getaway so there goes that option. Not to mention my mom and dads anniversary lands during spring break so they're going away."
Porschia sighed and then her face brightened. "Wait, I have a great idea," she said, touhing his arm gently. "My parents have a beach house at the resort. How about you and I spend it together....we'll still be at the beach and its a fully loaded house with a theater in the basement, a full kitchen, game room and a view of the ocean." Porschia anticipated his answer.
Harry - March 17, 2010 03:22 PM (GMT)
"That sounds awesome," Harry said, a smile growing on his face. And the best part was that since he was practically an adult, he wouldn't have to ask for his parents' permission.
"Will your folks be cool with that, though? My staying there, I mean?
Porschia - March 17, 2010 07:17 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, totally. My mom knows all about you," said Porschia with the widest grin. "She likes the fact I have friends outside my usual group. I'm sure she'll be fine with it. Besides, it's like you're a stranger to her. She thought you're a really nice guy so yeah, I'll talk to her about it tonight and get the keys."
Porschia touched his arm again and held it there. "Oh my gosh, we're going to have so much fun. I know it. We're fun people. We know how to live it up."
Harry - March 17, 2010 07:28 PM (GMT)
Harry smiled. "Alright. That sounds great."
His phone vibrated in his pocket, and Harry signaled for Porschia to give him a minute. "Hey, Tavia...no, I'm not at the beach. Yeah, I'm at home. I'll call you later, as long as you pick up. You never do."
Porschia - March 17, 2010 07:42 PM (GMT)
[i]Tavia,[/] she thought but shrugged it off as she was too impatient and text her mom about the beach trip for spring break.
Her mother quickly text her back saying she would leave the keys and a credit card on her dresser. Porschia was thrilled. Not only did she have plans but she would be alone with Harry. That thought struck her odd. Why would it matter if she was alone with him? Her eyebrows wriggled but shoved that thought out of her mind. She and Harry were friends. Thats all.
She sent a quick 'thanks' to her home and leaned against the wall waiting for Harry to finish.
Harry - March 17, 2010 07:51 PM (GMT)
"I'm hanging up," he laughed. "You can tell me when I call you. Bye."
Harry ended the phone call and slipped his phone back into his pocket. "Sorry about that. Did you talk to your mom already?"
Porschia - March 17, 2010 11:04 PM (GMT)
"No problem, Mr. Important," she teased him with a nudge. "Well, because I'm impatient and I couldn't wait to go home to ask mom, I text her. Thank goodness I did because she said she was leaving soon. But she said that it was very nice that I made plans. She left the key and a credit card in my room so we're set to go. We just have to figure when we're leaving and who's driving."
Harry - March 18, 2010 03:08 PM (GMT)
"I'll drive," he offered. "Your foot just got out of the cast. It'd be too much pressure to drive."
Porschia - March 18, 2010 03:39 PM (GMT)
"You're such a good guy and you're so good to me." Porschia smiled and spontaneously reached over to hug him. Besides her best friend and sometimes her mom, she had never found someone who actually cared for her. She thought very highly of Harry.
"So when do we leave? I need to shop and pack."
Harry - March 18, 2010 06:59 PM (GMT)
"We can leave whenever," he replied with a smile. "I'm ready whenever."
Porschia - March 18, 2010 08:24 PM (GMT)
"I say we leave tomorrow morning. It'll give me time to pack and buy a couple of things like food and such. Is there any snacks and drinks that you prefer. And what type of food do you like to eat?" she asked him, her silver eyes browsing his face.
Harry - March 18, 2010 08:58 PM (GMT)
Harry ran a hand through his hair and laughed. "I eat everything," he admitted. "Except pecans. I'm allergic."
Porschia - March 18, 2010 09:04 PM (GMT)
"I don't like nuts ... well, except for peanuts. I love peanuts and PB&J sandwiches." She smiled. "But cool, it's good to know someone who isn't picky. I'll get some burgers, dogs and seafood so we can grill everyday. You like seafood?"
