^{Ben slid himself into a chair,it was an new day,and he was happy.He heard the teacher practise the dictee words for her grade five students she teaches at the middle school around the corner. "Good morning class." The teacher said as the other students arrived. "Today we are going to learn about french words and how they sund weird,but sound completely weird.For instance,pomplemeusse.It only means grapefruit but it sounds like something you'd shoot in a bush,BAM!" This was the best teacher,she teached math and french but this year for ben,he was taking semi-french.}

BiC: Kiara threw the door open and marched to the back of the room. She didn't even bother trying to explain why she was late, heck she didn't want to eb here. But some bright spark, her mother, had decided that maybe extra French would help settle the teen into the new town. Whihc was crap. She needed ot eb left alone and she'd settled just fien. Pissed people off, made some firends, all that jazz.

So kicking out a chair, Kiara glared and tossed her curls not remotley impressed. Just to prove this point, she took out her i-pod and started flicking through her songs.

Ben exchanged glimpses. Focusing on this strange girl who just throws herself into places. He fixed the hair that was flapping out over his ears. Mum made him takesemi-french. Although,as he'd just love and stay for semi-french. He'd rather just ditch the class. He gave a small wave to the girl and whispered, "Want to ditch this class?" He said rasing an eyebrow. He could if he wanted. Really.

Vashti tried to ignore the exchange down the table. She had spent four years of middle schoool commuting across town to the Reno International Magnet so she could learn French 1 in seventh and eighth grade. French was a cool subject, though the teacher should be greeting them in the language.

Vashti rose and half watching the table with the crazy girl proclaimed: "Le pompeloumouse est comme un pomelo. Ils vendent les polemoes au Safeway. Ils sont tres chers. Ma soeur, Atalaya, aime les pomeloes. Elle mendice a mes mere et pere pour les pomeloes. Un pomelo est un pompeloumouse tres gros" Atalaya, step sister number two, really did have a thing for pomeloes. She did not just like to tear off their thick and squishy peel which was fun, but she liked the very sour fruit inside. Vashti was happy to let her skinny stepsister eat pomeloes any day of the week as long as she could help peel them. Atalaya had her weird moments and sometimes Vashti found that very comforting.

^{Not at ALL friendly today. Ben rolled his eyes at the girl not so tiny had sat in
his friends seat. Old seat actually. His old-time friend was a boy called Joey. He sat there and cluttered his face with his hands,tap his pencil repeatedly and slit himself with a pencil sharpener razor. He bled on the desk. He didn't was that to be washed off. "Get out of that chair please." He said getting frisk. Joey had died.

"Et combien ans-as ta soeur, Vashti?" asked the teacher who realized she had a pupil who was more than up for French 2.

"Elle a dix ans," answered Vashti; for Atalaya was a fifth grader who had just turned ten. At least Atalaya was looking forward to taking her French and right now felt it very unfair that she would have to wait until seventh grade.

Vashti resolved to ignore whatever was going on at the other end of her table. Speaking French was why one slaved away at conjugating verbs. Then Vashti in a moment of secret malice wished the teacher would call on the pair who looked ready for their own argument.

Kiara laughed as he asked the question. She shook her head and him and bit her lip lightly.

"No offense hun, but I'd rather die than go anywhere with you. So why don't you just turn around, save your pride and we'll forget you were dumb enough to ask such a question."

Kiara siad, her tones sweet but there was that oh so familiar tint of malic in her words. However, she contented herself wiht a quick glare beofre going back to her i-pod.

"She doesn't have to move."

Kiara said without looking up, amazed that she had actually stuck up for some random person. Ah well. It would annoy Ben whihc would even things out.

Vashti resolved to sit at a different table the next time she had French class. Right now she wished the teacher would smash the rowdy girl's i-pod and teach her a lesson. She also suspected that was not going to happen. Vashti's thoughts shifted to her stepfather and to her real dad who liked to talk about Comps and High Rollers. They had them in Reno as well as in Vegas. That's what the girl with the i-pod was, a Comp. She was getting comped (as in complimentary) through school because her parents forked over the bucks.

Kiara siad lightly, not even sparing Ben a glance. However she did spare one for the girl, wrinkling her nose slightly.

Ben nodded. Smirking. He did understand. "Sure.whatever." He said "So,Vashti...You new here?" He said ignoring the girl.

"Oui" Vashti mouthed to Ben and then she pointed at the teacher. Both Ben and Kiara were being comped through school and didn't even know it. If this were Reno or Washoe High, their rear ends would be down in the principal's office in nothing flat.

Ben just met this 'Vashti' girl. He didn't need to know her. He gave a cold-hearted wave to her and snarled at Kiara. "Sorry Kiara. I didn't notice who right,you were." He said not actaully rolling his eyes. He looked at Vashti then at Kiara. "Madame Lulu,puis je alle bois d'leau?"
Ben asked,he was extremely thirsty.

Kiara really wasn't in the mood so she narrowed her eyes and snarled out her next words in flawless french.

"Vous savez que ? Je ne pouvais pas me soucier moins que vous pensez et ma vie serait qu'un petit peu mieux si je n'avais jamais la malchance d'entre vous étant dans mon espace aérien ainsi comment de vous ne me parlent pas jamais de nouveau. Ayez l'air d'un plan ? Si j'avais ma façon que je ne serais pas même dans cette classe stupide, je n'ai pas besoin d'être ici. Incase que vous tous n'aviez pas remarqué, je suis le français, cette femme ne va pas m'enseigner n'importe quoi que je ne sais pas! Ainsi la pisse de la paire d'entre vous et me permettent d'écouter de ma musique."

With that she tossed her curls and gave them both an icy smirk.

Vashti shifted the angle of her chair so she could watch the teacher and ignore what she now considered the butt end of her table in more ways than one. "New table next class for sure," she told herself. Then she told herself: "I'm too stinking young to be comped through life."

OOC ~~~ I'm sorry, but law abiding characters don't like slackers. In school, Vashti has always been law abiding.
