fears: Silence (sometimes her mind plays tricks on her), Darkness for the same reason, and Being Alone. She used to be afraid of mice but she got a rat to face her fear and eventually got over it.

overall:
Jake is very stubborn and willing to fight for everything she believes in, making her very passionate as well. Her views are set in stone and cannot be changed unless something short of a miracle occurs, which is a bad thing. Often her first impressions of people stick, whether they’re right or wrong it doesn’t matter—they won’t change after that.

Everything in Jake’s world is black and white, though her moral reasoning and world view is not quite right. Instead of white being ‘good’ and black being ‘bad’, Jake considers white as ‘not fun’ and black as ‘fun’; there are no rights or wrong in her mind, there’s only boring and fun. She vaguely knows the rules and ways of the world but chooses to ignore them most of the time and suffer the consequences later.

Every once in a while something drastic will happen which forces Jake into a severe reality check—something that is more damaging than if she just stayed aloof in her own mind. However, she gets over such times because she hates being unhappy and knows that not everything is ever wrong, there’s always some good things and there’s always an opportunity to be happy. Even when everything crashes down, there’s a landing to the fall and once you’re lying on the ground, the only way to look is up.

Jake is a strong girl and her friends often look to her as a constant pedestal on which they can stand. She never changes for anyone (be that good or bad) so the level of consistency to others is comforting. She’s supportive in times of need but tell her the names of who’s troubling you and they’ll have an unscheduled meeting with her fist. Jake has a tendency to take things into her own hands rather readily.

overall:
Jake has black hair with stylish curls which she perfects every morning. She has an array of hair products, nail polishes, and makeup, though it would be incorrect to call her a girly-girl. She likes to be daring in her wardrobe when her robes are not required, and wears spicy but fashionable clothing in her free time. She was a model back at home which speaks to her good looks, though that was many years ago. The only thing that she finds wrong with her face (because there’s always something) is that her chin is too defined; Jake wishes that her face would be more rounded than it is. However, she’s still attractive even with that feature. When she smiles, her left eye closes more than her right, but it’s hardly noticeable. She has blue-green eyes and her natural hair colour is blonde...but no one has to know.

overall:
Jake was born in New York and raised there until about age five, at which time her mother divorced her father and moved out to a two-story farmhouse with a younger man whom she married a year later. Jacklyn never forgave her mother for such things, and hated Christopher on principal. Her brother Justin tried to bring her around but Jake was having none of it, and ran away four times before her ninth birthday. When she turned ten, she wished on her cake candles that Christopher would die and her father would save her from her mother and brother and the farmhouse she hated.

Within that week, when Jake was hating her house more than ever before, it spontaneously caught fire and burned to the ground. She remembered standing in the yard watching her own possessions burn, and yet she was happy. She was willing the flames to eat the wood, the plastic, the glass....everything. It was awesome.

Shortly after, her mother sent Jake to live in Great Britain with her father Henry, whom Jake had wanted to be with since they were separated. Justin stayed with Chris and Emma, and the three wrote to Jacklyn but she didn’t bother even reading the mail. She loved spending time with her dad and when she got an acceptance letter to Hogwarts, she refused to go. However, her father reassured her he’d be there when she got back, and sent her off to receive magic training.

Jake’s hate of mice came from her stay at the farmhouse where the little devils ran rampant. Somehow, miraculously, all of the rats died in the fire. It was only years later that Jake found out that she’d burned the house down and killed the rats in it with her magic fire. She felt bad so she sent a letter apologizing to her mother and inquiring as to how the woman was doing. Her mother and sibling and Chris had long before given up sending her mail, but once she sent one to her mother the reply was quick to come back. Her mother and Chris lived in Oklahoma where Justin had moved out with a roommate and was working at some sport stadium as a manager for a team. Jake smiled when she read the news but never promised to visit, still not ready to forgive her mother for divorcing her father, who was still in love with Emma.
