Join us on the original site of Fort Mims in Tensaw, Alabama for a reenactment of the bloodiest massacre in American history. Always held the last full weekend of August (battle took place August 30, 1813). Mims stockade fort is being restored with over half the log fort erected. We need settlers, militia, and Creek warriors to bring to life this most tragic of battles. Women and children participate as well. Bring your flintlocks, tomahawks, and scalping knives! Put on the war paint and feathers! Die like white devils in the fort or heathen injuns attacking it (depending on your point of view). Camp within the fort itself. Walk the hallowed ground which ran red with blood 194 years ago. We tell this story from both Indian and White points of view. We have a lot of fun in the process of doing it.
If you would like to see it or participate in it, please email Brien McWilliams at BrienMcW@aol.com for information and directions. Visit the fort mims website at: http://www.fortmims.org/ Join our discussion group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FortMimsRemembered/ |
