Welcome to the very first edition of the Liulfr Times, brought to you by the staff of Liulfr! Considering this is our first edition ever, we’re going to be giving you the low–down on everything to do with the website, just so you’ll be Liulfr–savvy in no time, okay?

Regards,
The Editorial Staff.

THE WEEKLY WEATHER REPORT!
Hosted by our favourite weatherman Brian, he’s here to bring you the latest news and such from the Liulfr Weather Station – a location so secret that not even we know where it is! Over to you, Brian!

Thanks, guys; it’s now time for your weekly dose of me: Brian!

We should see a few showers around Edon Lake and Perrine Hill – especially at night, but not to worry. Expect cloudy days with some patches of sunshine breaking through the clouds, which should come on Friday or Saturday, then again on Tuesday on Wednesday. At the moment, the pressure around Liulfr is low – in the nine–hundreds, to be exact – but it should rise over the next few days.

The nights are getting colder, so be sure to find that nice, warm den and stay there! There won’t be much cloud around at night, which means the warm air will escape into the skies and it’ll be colder as the night goes on, but it does mean that you’ll all get nice views of the stars.

For the areas that aren’t going to be attacked by showers (anywhere other than Edon Lake and Perrine Hill), expect crisp, cold days and cold nights. We’re half–way through autumn and about to hit winter, so please watch out for any frost that might form overnight. Thank you!

PACK UPDATES!
Hello and greetings to you all; welcome to the section of the Liulfr Times that’s somewhat dedicated to Lachlan. We would interview some of the pack members, but unfortunately, we’re not all that gifted when it comes to speaking wolf, and we’re sure that the members of Lachlan have never studied English before, so there you go. Onto the updates and important bits of news!

With autumn quickly turning into winter and plenty of lone wolves out and about and looking for a place to stay, the territory borders have started to become active. Lachlan’s newest arrival so far is Lucian, and we’ll welcome the newer members as they flock and are accepted.

What with all this hubbub of activity, the lands are quite excited. Although the deer herds are in the process of fighting for their mating rights (well, the males, exclusively), this doesn’t mean that hunting has slowed to a halt! Both the creek and the lake are accessible, glorious fishing spots that have been known to attract a lot of prey as well.

On a whole, however, the pack is steadily rising in numbers. According to our anthropologist (Giselle Tyler), this is a very good sign that the pack will thrive for many months to come – and that we could expect litters in early spring. We won’t hold our breath, however, since Giselle hastens to add that ranks have to be ‘assigned’ (per se, apparently) and that will only happen once the pack has a few more wolves.

ADAM’S GUIDE TO HUNTING AND SURVIVAL!
You are now reading Adam’s guide to hunting and survival. Adam Reed himself is Giselle’s partner and our second anthropologist. In fact, he’s our only male anthropologist – and why this is important, we have no idea, but we thought we would add it anyway. Moving swiftly on, read below for Adam’s guide.

Stealth… is something that every wolf must learn in order to be successful. You cannot stalk prey if you are constantly making noise, be it stepping or twigs or making the grass rustle. You must be discreet and hidden like the ninja – perfectly camouflaged like the chameleon and then you will succeed. To be successful is to be stealthy, and this is one of life’s many lessons.
Speed… is one part of a wolf that is not taught to them by learning. It is instinctive; you must be fast to prevail––slow wolves are not an option. Albeit, slow wolves may hang back and then aid the pack in the killing of the prey when it is brought down, but altogether, you will not prevail if you are slow. You must hone your instinct of speed in order to survive.
Stamina… is a wolf’s greatest friend. If you are not fast and you are not stealthy, you must be able to run for miles after your prey without tiring. If one cannot do this, then one has no hope of survival and has therefore lost the game. You must run without fatigue, you must think only about your meal at the end of your run and you must not give up. To have stamina is the ultimate key to surviving.
Edon Lake… is the biggest source of water inside Lachlan territory and it is one’s best bet of finding an easy meal. Fish may be hard to catch but they are rich in minerals and nutrients that are vital towards a wolf’s survival. Prey may be little around the banks of the lake, but there is prey there––and when they are caught unawares by grazing the vegetation or drinking the water, you can strike and have the best chance of bringing them down.
Emerald Fields… are a vast expanse of rolling greenery that appears to never end. Deer frequently gather here, and this is one’s ultimate source for food both in the winter and the summer months. If deer do not gather here, there are always rabbits and smaller prey to catch, so one will never go without food. The fields offer cover for the hunters and open areas for the prey so that a wolf can strike without being seen until the last moment.
Briar Forest… may not be full of the amount of deer that the Emerald Fields are, but it does contain some. Perhaps not to the sheer scale of the fields, but they are there, even if they are harder to ambush and kill whilst one is chasing them through dells and trees. A wolf’s best bet is the smaller mammals that are found in the forest – mice and rabbits, small birds, etcetera.
