Arabella-Rose walked briskly towards the library, her soft brown hair flowing in waves behind her. She had a ton of homework, which didn't necessarily bother her. Quite the opposite really. She loved homework-well she liked it anyway. She had always been hard-working and very goal oriented. She knew she wanted to make it on her own in the world and not just live off mommy and daddy.
Her parents were rich. They had always given their children everything they could ever ask for, even when Arabella-Rose didn't ask for anything. When she was younger she didn't mind so much, but as she got older she began resenting having everything handed to her. People began to think she was a snob, someone who stuck their nose up at everyone else. She wasn't anything like that, but people didn't care. They judged on what they saw from the outside-a pretty girl with designer clothes and money.
That's why when she turned fourteen she refused to take her parents money anymore, unless it was an emergency. She got a crappy minimum wage job and saved every penny. Eventually she saved up enough to pay her own way through school. Her parents tried time and time again to help her out, but she refused.
Not only did she hate her parents money, but she also hated her name. Her parents wanted to name her something original, something that not many other people had. She got stuck with Arabella-Rose. It wasn't even that horrible of a name, but she thought it was too long. She wanted something short like her older brother Trent. Apparently her parents hadn't thought of being original when he was born. That's why she told everyone to call her Bella. She liked that much better. Her twin sister used to call her that when they were kids.
She finally reached the library, a bit exhausted after the walk. Even though she was in good shape, she was tired and hungry so the ten minute walk had not been fun. She pushed open the heavy wooden door and saw that nearly every table was taken. She sighed, not really wanting to be social. She used to be quite social, but after her sister passed she had become withdrawn.
She saw that everyone seemed to be chatting or working on some group project and wondered where on Earth she could sit. She wasn't going to join people who already were busy. That's when she spotted a boy sitting alone. He wasn't sitting with anyone else, so that seemed to be her only option. They didn't have to talk to each other.
"Hello, mind if I sit? There's nowhere else" she whispered as she walked over and took a seat. He was going to have to deal with her sitting there wheter he liked it or not. She just thought at least pretending he had a choice would be the polite thing to do.
