Title: FIGURES SHIPPED!
Description: First batch of figures has been shipped
KarenRoss - December 14, 2009 11:59 AM (GMT)
Merry Christmas guys!
Iīve got some great news with a "but..." that will become awesome news with no "but" in the near future. ;)
The great news are:
-A first batch of Series 1 figures HAS SHIPPED ALREADY!
-The remaining orders will be shipped this week!
The "but..." is that:
Those copies havenīt turned out as perfect as the sculptor wanted them to so he will be remolding and recasting them and will ship the 100% PERFECT final copies with the Sawyer bust as soon as they are all finished (hopefully it wonīt take another year, )
So, long story short:
Several orders have been shipped already, the sculptor says he has gone right down the list by who ordered first. So some people (at least those from the USA) should start receiving them this week, but that depends on the post office, not the sculptor ;)
All the remaining orders should be shipping this week.
But those copies we will be receiving now arenīt 100% perfect and the sculptor wants them to be 100% perfect so he has shipped/is shipping the not 100% perfect ones now so we can be sure heīs serious about this and not fooling us AND the 100% perfect copies will be coming soon next to the Sawyer bust and the extra Daniel heads (for those who ordered the extra head).
Quoting the sculptor:
One thing that has stressed me out BIG TIME (and has been the MAIN cause of delays) is that some of the castings have a few little defects. I've tried to make them as perfect as possible, but it has been difficult. Due to my lack of being able to pressure cast, this has occured. So....what I'm going to do is that I'll ship all of the ones that I have already cast to people so they at least know that I'm not some scam artist or whatever, then I'm going to remold them and send you all another, second set of PERFECTLY cast ones that I'll have my friend do for me. He's working on other stuff for me, so it'll be no problem.
So......Don't worry! You're still getting the castings I already have, but the perfectionist in me MUST make this right. It's driven me nutty, spending lots of time casting, without all of them turning out perfectly. But that's the tricky thing about casting, especially tiny stuff.
Cannot say the exact number of orders that have been shipped already but there are several of them (not just 3 or 4, I mean).
The sculptor will post it himself when all of the remaining orders have been shipped :)
So...keep your eyes on your mail box those of you who ordered first! And please, post here when you start receiving your figures! Canīt wait to get mine!

Great News ! :D
Thanks Karen :)

I'll say a "yay" for now, with the question of: will we have to pay for shipping again if there's now more than one shipment?

I donīt think so, donīt worry. We already paid for shipping once, shouldnīt have to pay for it twice as itīs not our fault the figures have to be remolded and recasted and reshipped.
Donīt worry :)

Karen,
I am no longer at the address I was when I first paid for my figures. I need to get a hold of the sculptor to see if mine have gone out yet and give him my new address.

Donīt worry, just contact him at the email address you sent the money to (the "collectormania" one), he will let let you know if yours shipped already or not, no prob :)

Unfortunatly the deal that Clay made still stands. If they are not in everyone's hands by tommorow we still get half a refund.

I don't think that's fair - obviously not everyone is going to get them at the same time. Clay made good on his promise to ship them - I'm not sure what more you expect...

Agree, I also think itīs not fair and itīs not really kind to keep pushing Clay like that. Yeah, heīs a few days late with the final shipping date he gave us, but he has kept his promise anyway and has started shipping.
I know we are all fed up with the continuous delays and the way Clay has been breaking all his promises once and again, I have complained and argued with him a lot of times myself, I have also posted sarcastic comments just like some of you, but I think that now he has finally started shipping it really doesnīt help that we keep bashing him, if you know what I mean...
That said, Shadow, if you or anybody else still want his half a refund, let Clay know, I think he will prefer to send it to you rather than to have anybody annoyed and/or complaining :)
Jack Shephard - December 14, 2009 07:02 PM (GMT)
Sorry to sound negative, but there is a sense of desperation about the whole thing. I mean he doesn't even know exactly how many he's shipped - that's unbelievable !! For all you know it may only be two or three sets  On top of that, the figures are it seems, less than perfect and he says he's going to cast them again ..... I mean two years on and still nothing concrete. I suggest people wait and see exactly how many members actually receive their figures over the next few days and let them determine exactly what the quality is like, then you can either praise or continue to chase him ;) I think it's rather premature to start singing the sculpters praises just yet, at the moment this sounds like little more than a desperate token gesture to keep the wolves from the door <_<
bcs7583 - December 14, 2009 07:37 PM (GMT)
^^^^ Gonna have to agree with that.
I am not sure I understand sending out sets that are just going to be replaced. So does that mean everyone gets 2 sets...one with flaws, and one "perfect"? Seems a little over complicated to me. I hope it works out, but man, I'd think the perfect ones should already be shipping at this point.
ShadowX81 - December 14, 2009 07:51 PM (GMT)
Well Clay said that if they were not in everyone's hands by the 15th then everyone would get half a refund. It doesnt get much clearer then that.
Despite popular belief, verbal contracts are legally binding. Its just hard defend them since there is often little to no evidence to prove them. Fortunatly the fact that this is a forum means his post is proof.

I think you have to look hard into this and make of it what you will. I know what I think ;) Do you really believe that after all this, you're actually going to get a second perfect set ? The initial set has been hard enough to obtain, let alone a further one ! Sorry folks I may be wrong, but it all seems very transparent to me. I'm amazed that anyone with an ounce of common sense would actually be taken in by this ;)

I think either you misunderstood my post or I didnīt explain myself well enough.
I didnīt say the sculptor doesnīt know how many orders he has shipped, that would be stupid, lol, of course he knows the exact number of orders he has shipped, and I know too, but he has told me that he will let you all know when he has shipped them all instead of posting how many he has shipped already and how many he hasnīt.
I tell you there are not "only 2 or 3 sets" shipped, but way more :)
And regarding the casting and the figures:
First of all it hasnīt been for 2 years just yet, although itīs close to that, yeah, but not yet.
I have already posted a quote from him saying why the figures arenīt perfect already, and why this has taken so long. Mostly due to the small size of the figures that makes it more difficult to cast (because of air bubbles and stuff like that). He is used to cast figures which are bigger and the bigger figures are easier to cast. Heīs all alone doing this and he has already said he could use help with the casting because itīs complicated. His friend, who seems to be more used to this kind of casting than him and has the right tools, couldnīt help him before but will be able to help him with the new remolding and recasting.
Nobody is praising the sculptor for his work, Jack, donīt know what you are talking about, I just said it isnīt fair that we keep bashing him because of things like "he said he would give refunds if he didnīt ship the figures before this day, so as he has shipped them a few days later he must give the refunds" because we have already got the first giant step we were waiting for: him to ship the figures once and for all (even if itīs only some of the orders for now).
Now regarding the two castings, the non-perfect one and the perfect one:
We have been complaining because he didnīt ship the figures. We knew he was having problems with the castings and that he needed the help of his friend because heīs doing it all on his own and he has noticed casting is tricky and difficult.
Now he finishes the castings and sees that in spite of trying once and again the figures arenīt 100% perfect and he is not happy with them, so instead of telling us that we must keep waiting because he isnīt happy with the castings and risking to get a "yeah sure, another excuse..." kind of reply from us, he decides that he will just ship the figures he has cast already, even though they arenīt perfect, and spend extra money to ship each of us a second batch of figures once he can get his friendīs help.
And now some of you guys are seriously complaining because we are going to get a first batch of non-100%perfect figures now and a second batch of 100% perfect figures later for no extra cost instead of getting NOTHING at all and having to wait more? Seriously?
Well, keep complaining if you feel better that way, Iīd rather get these non-perfect figures now and the perfect final ones later than getting nothing at all.
Btw- everybody is entitled to their opinions and everybody has the rights to post and complain, Iīm not gonna ban anybody or delete any comments for that. But I canīt help finding it really weird and funny that you, Jack Shephard, are one of the boardies who complain the most and post most of the sarcastic comments and still you are one of the few people who hasnīt ever ordered any of the figures.
Find it really interesting that you feel so...concerned over our orders, our money and our project. Really reminds me of your nickname character, needing to try to help everybody even though you arenīt involved with this.
(Donīt worry, Jack was one of my fav characters back in the first seasons ;) Unfortunately, he became a bit too annoying later :()

Easy, Jack, youīre entering a dangerous territory with that last statement. Everybody is entitled to their opinions but let everybody think what they want and decide by themselves what they want to believe. I highly doubt anybody here needs for you to come to open their eyes (our eyes), everybody is intelligent enough to know what he/she has to do and think.
You donīt want the figures? you donīt trust the sculptor? Just ask for a refund and forget about this.
Oh wait, you canīt because you didnīt order the figures because you didnīt trust the sculptor
So... what do you exactly want? To make us see that we are blind and doesnīt have common sense because we keep trusting the sculptor? To enlighten us?
Thank you but we are just fine, donīt worry, really.

Yes, you are right, so as I already said, if you have not received your figures by tomorrow, go and ask for your refund. Simple as that.
Anybody who doesnīt want to receive the figures now because he/sheīd rather wait for the final 100%perfect ones can ask Clay to not to ship their figures now.
And anybody who doesnīt want to keep waiting for the final figures, plus the Sawyer bust and the Jack figure or doesnīt believe they will happen can go and ask for a full refund and forget about this nightmare.
Thatīs all the sculptor can do.
tigerlily - December 14, 2009 10:14 PM (GMT)
oh WOW!!! :D :D :D
I think it's wonderful, personally, and am very excited about getting them EVEN IF they are not perfected. Why? It means I can practice my painting skills on them, and if they come out fairly decent, voila!!! Stocking stuffers for my Lostie friends.
I haven't read this entire new conversation in great detail and will later, perhaps I'm missing something, but I think Clay is fulfilling his promise to ship by mid-December. I am still anxious to get perfect little figures AND the Sawyer bust but it will happen when it happens.
This is a GIANT step forward with the project!!!!!
Thank you Clay!!!!
BillyShears - December 14, 2009 11:28 PM (GMT)
i'm not sure what to think... i just really hope that i'll get something in the next days.
jack shephard: i agree with a lot of things you said, but the fact that you did not order the figures astonishes me. you're really making an idiot of yourself. did you plan to grab the figures after the first people got theirs or what? or are you just hanging around message boards and playing mr. grumpy? well, whatever. at least there're some people who're still annoyed, i aleady resigned.
i don't want to offend anyone, but it's amazing that there're still people out there who believe in this project. giving a guy a lot of money to do a job, see him breaking promises a dozen times and almost two years later, still nothing (physical). when/if the first guy gets the figures, i salute you and your positive thinking and faith in mankind. really.
(and by the way, i don't think that this whole thing is a scam, it is definitely not. i just think that clay is incredibly unreliable. and unreliability + money in advance + anonymity of the internet doesn't work well)
okay, i try to think positive again. some people will have their figures for christmas. yay!
The Tempest - December 15, 2009 12:06 AM (GMT)
I'm with the cynical bunch on this forum. I thought the reason why Clay didn't ship the castings was because they weren't perfect and he assured us all when we finally received them they would be 100% perfect. We know he's been having trouble, he's had a year and a half worth of trouble documented on the other topic. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we're finally getting something rather than nothing but it feels a bit iffy to me. Sorry, Clay.
Claypusher - December 15, 2009 12:19 AM (GMT)
Yes, PLEASE stay positive. :)
I must say SORRY again, guys (and gals), but all is not bad. Yes, I was running a bit late, due to the casting woes, as well as the literal blizzard-like conditions/icy roads here in my lovely state last week. That's not an exaggeration, either.
As Karen said, I'm sending (and have sent) some of the castings I DO have, which have some flaws (mainly airbubbles on Daniel's fingers and nose....driving me NUTS), but they're pretty good, for the most part. But I am perfectionist, so I want to make it as right as I can. So soon, you WILL receive another perfect set, cast to perfection. And NO, you won't need to worry about shipping costs.
I apologize for the delay and that this has occured....again. belive me, nobody is more stressed than me. But in the end, you'll have even more LOST figures, so it's not all bad, right? I was embarrassed that this is happening, so I avoided posting.
And no, I shouldn't have opened my big mouth with the half refund thing. But I wanted to illustrate that you WOULD be getting the things and this wasn't a "farce", as a certain member seems to enjoy saying. With all respect, that sort of comment really annoys me, as I'm toiling away over (unhealthy) urethane resins, casting these things. but yeah..a farce. Okay. :(
Anyway, all is fine, they're shipping. A batch has gone out and more will this week. You'll all have them!
But, regarding the half refund thing- As I told Karen, I don't have the money at the moment, but I DO have clay and ability. I'd be happy to offer more free stuff. I always have sculpting materials, so that, I can more easily offer. Another "mystery" bust, perhaps? Something else? But, if some DO insist on the half refund thing, I'll do it asap. Just know that I'm doing my best to make it right.
Anyway, batches are shipping, so you'll see them very soon.
Thanks (and sorry) again.

Btw, YES, there is a "sense of desperation" about it! The fact that I wasn't able to cast them to perfection and I feel bad about it. So with all respect, I ask you publicly-Leave it be. As Karen said, you've nothing at stake, so why bother?
The people who have paid and WHO MATTER will receive their figs. And then some.
That's all I care about, man. ;)
Internet "armchair experts" really irritate me.
Again, ladies and gents- Trust me. They're shipping and you'll start getting them this week. And more stuff will come later.
Thanks again.
P.S. The word is spelled "sculptor". ;)
Chig - December 15, 2009 01:31 AM (GMT)
Happy Holidays everyone.
I have no doubt that Clay has been giving everything he has got to get these done.
Bottom line, Clay, if they are a beautiful as the photos (even the ones you posted with the molds where you can see the flaws in the current mold pouring process) you are truly an amazing artist. I can only imagine the stress this has caused and time all of this has consumed. Clay... I would /will not take a dime of a refund.
Karen, you just hands down rock!

It is nice to hear that those that hung in there are finally getting something shipped to them.
But I just have to bring up to Clay that before he uses his own money to pay for a second shipment to each person, that I would appreciate the refund that has been promised many months ago. I understand money is tight. But I do believe that my refund was promised before the free second shipment was promised.
Thanks, and congrats on the shipments guys.

Not saying Clay isnīt "guilty" but if youīre gonna quote somebody to show him up, be honest enough to not to quote only the things that are useful to you ;)

If you spent less time on making broken promises, trying to defending yourself here, offering bonus items and part refunds that you can't deliver, you may actually find the time to supply what was initially purchased. Lets face it you're struggling to deliver the basic two figure set let alone free busts and other sweeteners. Karen created a great idea, and it could have been such a brilliant project for fans of the show, sadly she obviously chose the wrong guy to work with !

Wow, you just HAVE to get the final word in, don't you?
It's literally like reasoning with a twelve year old.
How else can I say this, to address your comment? NO $HIT, people would like to
see this "back on track", and, um, that's what's happening. Btw, have you NOT seen anything that's been done?? Have you actually looked at the pics posted here? Who do you think made the pieces, molded the pieces, cast the pieces?
Well, it wasn't Jacob, "Jack".
So, PLEASE...just...stop...going on about it.
Now, this WILL be my final post to you. :)
KarenRoss - December 16, 2009 10:15 AM (GMT)
Please guys, I politely ask you two to just stop it, okay?
Jack, we all know already what you think about this and youīre not the only one who thinks like that so donīt worry, you have made your point perfectly.
But I donīt want this to become a battlefield as it does nothing to help, it just makes us all annoyed so it makes no sense to keep talking about the same things over and over.
Jack, you are right regarding the continuous broken promises of the sculptor, it sucks, but he finally has started shipping (even if itīs not the final shipment with the final figures) and thatīs an HUGE step forward keeping in mind we have been waiting for it for almost 2 years. Yes, itīs a pity we arenīt receiving the 100% perfect figures already but for now we should just wait for the non-perfect figures to arrive and hope we can get the perfect ones soon.
You can agree or not but itīs starting to look really silly that you are the only one complaining this much when you havenīt ordered any of the figures, so please, let it be for now... I donīt want to have to ban anybody because I donīt want anybody to think I donīt let you speak and share your opinions, but I donīt want this mess on our board either (it has enough of it already) so please, donīt make me have to stop this by deleting posts and banning people, pretty please.
Thank you in advance.
Claypusher - December 16, 2009 10:52 AM (GMT)
Karen, it was never my intention to perpetuate any of this silliness in posting comments back and forth. Belive me, I don't enjoy it. :(
I simply wanted-and asked-him to stop, to merely mind his own business and lay off me. Sorry that it takes you to post on here to (hopefully) get the point across.
Okay, I'm done commenting on all of that.
On a positive note, I look forward to you all getting the figures. Again, it'll be starting this week.
Lots more cool stuff coming. ;)
P.S. I'll be posting Ben and Desmond sculpt pics very soon, as well.
Take a while to nail likenesses this small, that's for sure!
Please, let me reassure you that the next wave will NOT suffer these same little molding/casting issues.
I'm not getting myself (and you, of course) in that mess again, ever. Period.
One more thing- Would you all like to vote on who the next mystery bust should be? I leave it up to you all.
Cheers.

Karen, it was never my intention to perpetuate any of this silliness in posting comments back and forth. Belive me, I don't enjoy it. :( I simply wanted-and asked-him to stop, to merely mind his own business and lay off me. Sorry that it takes you to post on here to (hopefully) get the point across. Okay, I'm done commenting on all of that. On a positive note, I look forward to you all getting the figures. Again, it'll be starting this week. Lots more cool stuff coming. ;) P.S. I know Clay, donīt worry, you know I have been backing you up lately but if you keep posting about it and Jack keeps replying and you keep replying back it isnīt gonna stop anytime soon (it took Locke 5 seasons to have Jack on his side, you know ) as itīs just normal that one wants to have the final word in an argument, we are humans ;)

You know what, despite what you think I really admire the guys sculpting skills, absolutely amazing ! This is really down to dissapointment on my part. I SO badly wanted this to work, to participate and see the figures continue to expand. But as has been discussed elswhere on other forums the many delays, excuses, promises and inconsistent comments posted by Clay here have badly damaged this projects reputation. I truly think that Clay bit off more than he could chew, and what has been seen here over the last 18 + months is the result of that. Go back and reread his many posts, it's all there if you take the time to open your eyes. Good luck to everyone here, inc Clay, but Karen I truly wish you had picked a more reliable guy to go forward with you on this project. It could have been so much more succesful ;)

Hey folks; after some lurking, I figured i'd finally join these forums. I was on the Spawn forums, also under the name Whitebrowgigs, and I initially ordered the set, but fell under financial hardships and requested a refund.
#1- Clay has refunded me half of the amount that is owed and i'm waiting for the second half. And frankly, I'm alright with that. Half of the amount shows that he is indeed serious about taking care of us and will do what he can, when he can to take care of things. I don't know his personal situation, his job, or his income, but I believe things will be right. I do agree that maybe this was a larger undertaking than he or maybe any of us expected, but if this project does continue, at least we will know what goes into making these characters and maybe clay will too with casting/creating these smaller items.
#2- at this point, I wish I could afford to pick these up now that they're done cos from the initial sculpt they look pretty awesome! I haven't had time to display my mcfarlane LOST figures, but they'll be up very soon; and these new additions would look great!!
So, yes, things took longer than expected and I've read many of the posts, but the important thing is that these are now in the last stretch of the process and they look fantastic. I'm sure those who requested refunds will get them in time, but bitching isn't going to get anything done any faster, now is it?
take care folks!
