Just wondering if anyone knew of (preferrably good!) published authors who happen to fall somewhere in the acronym spectrum (GLBTQRSTUVOMGWTFBBQ etc). I know Gregory Maguire (author of Wicked, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and others of that sort) is gay, but that's about it for me.

Maguire is gay? ...that actually makes sense...

Tanya Huff (The Fire's Stone), I believe, is gay... but I can't think of any others...

There's Augusten Burroughs. He wrote Running With Scissors which was recently made into a movie, and some other books, mostly short stories.

Hmmm...I can't think of any more.

For all intents and purposes, you can add to this topic whatever you want.

Self-published, net-published, or available-in-the-bookstore-published!

Just be sure to mention if it's self/net-published so people don't go out to search for books in the bookstores only to be disappointed :-D.

Stephen Fry... ? He is technically an author now...even if he was a comedian first. xD

Well I think he started a couple of years ago...He has a talent for making obscure things entertaining. Like that book of General Ignorance. =)

Yes! Go his acting! Jeeves & Wooster = Awesome! ^^

Just a few of my faves, all gay guys, all in bookstores:

Joe Keenan, who executive-produced Frasier for ages, has 3 hilarious queer novels, and is one of the main inspirations for my NaNo project this year. My Lucky Star, his most recent (and only post-Frasier novel to date) is so funny I thought they were going to call security when I was reading it in my hotel room because I was laughing so loud.

Michael Thomas Ford, more famous as an essayist, also has a couple of recent romance-style novels out there.

Robert Rodi is most famous for Fag Hag, although he has other good ones, too, of which Closet Case is my favorite.

Chris Kenry is a Denver author who writes great character-driven gay fiction (see: Can't Buy Me Love). He is the Gay Author I Would Most Like to Be (And Will Hopefully Be Able To Emulate Once My Na No Project From Last Year Or This Year Gets Me Discovered).

Christian McLaughlin also does good Gay Comedy.

Grant Michaels has a good mystery series about hairdresser Stan Kraychik, although the most recent one is probably from 6 or 7 years ago.

Steven Saylor has a great mystery series set in ancient Rome (the Roma Sub Rosa series) and has a hardback Comprehensive Fictionalized History of Rome out now. His books aren't gay-themed, but he is gay and quite a brilliant writer.

Thanks for the tips happy.gif. Now I'm wishing I had more money so I could check some of this stuff out...

Good luck with your NaNovel this year! May it be as Chris Kenry-y as you could possibly make it (whilst still retaining your own identity tongue.gif).
