Maybe Something That Can Do A Change?

Hi all


I was reading LB:s newssite today and I agree with him that we should think about how we can change all the bad attitude that comes very often to this forum theese days.
I have a little suggestion. How about to try to do this forum a little more personlized (or what its called in english).

Maybe a section with little interviews about people involved in Fishsim in all parts from the creator of the simulator to the online server peoples.

I think if we in some way can get to know eachother better we won´t scream and shout either.
The thing thats going on now to lock threads and ban people is good for the moment I think, but it will then start again. It can also make people feel that they don´t want to post anything at all because it "could start something"
But I agree that it has to be done if people can´t behave as grown ups.

I too think it is a good idea, if we all knew each other on a personal level we would be much more understanding of one another, but can it really work?

i think it would be a good idea for something like that to happen.

i do feel a little bit responsible for some of the things that have happened over the last few months, but please believe me, i have meant no malice to anyone, in any way, shape or form.
things i have said/written have been purely banter, not meant in anyway to wind people up, but it seems that's the way it has gone.

the episode over the world champs a few weeks ago is in my opinion, what has started the demise of the forum, for that i am truly sorry, i had spoken to other well respected simmers, about the bad subject, and voiced it at that time, that if i made my thoughts public, what would it do to the F/S community?

well i now think the answer is here for all to see. after all the bad feeling that produced.

i do apologise for making my thoughts public, and if i suspect any sort of wrong doing again, in the future, i will keep my thoughts to myself.

i am not a bad person, as i'm sure many simmers, (those who i speak to regular on the phone) will tell you, as will most of the people i talk to regular on MSN and by PM's.

so if my apology helps in anyway, which i hope it will, then again i apologise.

i have stated before that i won't get involved in any banter, but i was sort of talked back into "giving it some". so i will again now stop any banter, (even tho there ain't been any for a while).

so come on guys, let's work this out, and make this forum a great place to visit once again.

Dont worry mate, the problems are not yor doing mate. There have been knives out for a long time now....

Seems to me like as soon as someone disagrees in the forum (which isnt a problem) anyone who doesnt know or like them jumps in to lay the boot into one or other of the parties.

This used to make me think twice about posting for fear of upsetting or angering people, but now I just post when I feel I want to add something useful and if anyone responds in a negative manner I tend to turn a blind eye.

I would definately like to know more about people on here, discuss interests (outside fishing) and share advice and knowledge.

Anyway when I get more time I will post my resume for you all to laugh at.

Keef... so you overeacted a bit over the alleged cheating in the WC.

It happens, and is forgot about in time. Not everyone on this forum is so into match fishing though, there are other problems here.

One of them is caused by people who don't usually frequent this forum, only turn up now and again and want to rule the joint, upsetting everyone, before disapearing from whence they came. This I feel is one of the biggest problems here. The reason it's been so quiet lately is because I removed the people who were causing the problems, the next few days will tell now.

The way forward is for everyone to think what they are posting, will it cause offence, and to generally post to encourage other people to respond in a nice polite and positive way.

i am a print finisher by trade (posh name is paper technician)

unfortunatly i am a true northerner and i say it like i see it,and as such have defended FS2 on many occasions,sometimes in ways that a lot of people didnt like,but most of the time i have been right,when i am wrong i will hold my hand up and say i am wrong.

i have been with FS2 since before it was released,i was involved with the creator and many other seasoned fishsimmers who became good friends. many of these i have fished with in real life.

i have organised a few of the yearly meets.met a lot of really good people at these :)

someone in a thread said he only saw me post about these meets and questioned my character,well to be honest if ya met me you would have to agree i am an old nutter,mad as a hatter. but i stopped posting on threads on the forum,simply cause i got fed up of having to jump in and defend FS2 from a lot of idiots that wanted to destroy this wonderful sim. i do still post now an again,(and yes FF will do i wind up now an again :) )

i enjoy fishing for real and on FS2,i love meeting people at the meets,characters all :) ,and all good people.

but enough about me for now,unless ya want the really gory i mean boring stuff :)

My name is Steve Rutledge from Southeastern USA, I had a very good friend called BigJack and the name just stuck with me, when I was asked for a screen name I simply put StevieJack (first in AOL-IM long ago), stuck ever since, mom always calls me Stevie, hated it when I was young but hey if ya cant beat it except it. lol

I am a plumber, yes I work on toilets and other nasty things but it isn’t always that bad :)

I found FS2 years later after its first release when I was working on a fishing game myself, I was wondering the web for competition when I came across FS2, I simply folded up everything, if ya can’t beat-em Join-em.

I have had strong opinions in the past, but it seems I can make a preacher curse at times so I promise I will try harder to keep the peace.

I have always like doing new things; I recently started the FishSim radio show, I hope it works out, I know some of you probably think I have lost the plot but you got to start somewhere lol, if I don’t get any better I can always quit, but if you never start you cant get any better.

I love Harley Davidson’s (I have 2 of them) and love to ride when I can, the more miles from point A to point B the better!

Hi there, It's Andy Dean here aka Android, a nickname that was first given to me at the age of 7 for reasons I cannot remember and well, it just stuck, then it became cool as everyone else had a nickname!

I hail from the sunny south west of Devon, in the UK where in the small fishing town of Salcombe I quickly caught the fishing bug from my dad, who would be found in his boat on most weekends.

After leaving school at 16, I trained in a 4 star hotel to become a chef, 3 years full time with one day at college.
Having been taught the classic French cuisine, I went on to work in many other types of cookery, my passion being Mediterranean/pacific rim foods,although these days I am no longer a chef, I still enjoy entertaining friends & family with new dishes.

I first began fishsim about 3 years ago, I was surfing the internet for something totally unimportant and somehow found myself downloading the demo, I was addicted immediately, and soon sent for the full cd version, the rest as they say, is history.

When I am not "fishing" I enjoy playing Gran turismo, project gotham, Forza motorsport on my games consoles, dabbling with a little visual basic programming on the PC. For the outdoor pursuits I am a keen amateur photographer that happens also to like walking, cycling, and when the time allows, a good round of golf (sadly after 3 years or so I am still waiting for the good round lol)
