I cant help thinking that the amount of pressure of the water this barbel lived in may have something to do with the death.

the theory the angling world has come to is it was killed by otters, mink are in decline in that area since re-introduction of otters.

it was caught 2days ago at 20lb 14oz, cant rule that out as a reason for death but with the quality and experience of the anglers who fish there, pretty sure mis-handling the fish or not putting it back properly is not the cause of death
