Totally disgusted with whats happened. It's punished all us simmers that fish fair and square.
Myself and others enjoy what jase has put up for us and because of a few
indivudules, its ruined a good days fishing and probably for most of the week.
To be honest I think that trophy sim should also be done on real time along with the real date. That will sort those that are really dedicated to fishing the trophy.
As you all know, you catch > it goes dead and you just revert back to the time you started fishing and bingo your catching again.
Maybe this is something that Jase can look into so that we get the real true trophy simmers that are interested.

Hope there's no problem pasting this in, but it clears me and blondey and will let u all know what the future plans are for FS2...

Just an update, there's been some ideas to secure things up, it's certainly not as simple as some suggestions in just removing the peg editor, there are a lot of other ways around it without the peg editor ( including editing of object files themselves ).

Today has been spent on updating and testing ( thanks to all that have helped ). Some progress has been made and a number of changes made for version 2.13, these are to secure up the challenges and trophy which is my main priority. There will be methods to secure up match servers to, but at the moment i'm reluctant to release these generally to any matches apart from the Pro ones.

There is absolutely no point at all in bringing back the trophy challenge until all of this is sorted and released, there definitely isn't time to check results and as proved yesterday a semi-automated system isn't perfect. This lead to incorrect detection of 3 people, but did catch more ( albeit some were testing ). I sincerely apologise to Wayne and Steph ( Phoenix thorn and blondey ), after closely looking at the temperatures and areas fished, these were totally valid and not as a result of any cheating on there part.

On servers, there is an opportunity now to increase security and have a better system in place for banning particular offending people. Recently, I believe, Angelo had a problem with one person continually joining, disrupting and using foul language on the server, there will be a better system in place to block such people from the server in the later version now.

Also, there was a bug regarding the month setting in the stk files which was pointed out to me a while back, this opportunity now will give the chance to correct that.

Finally the fishing is changing, and it will be completely different, lots of tests have been going on today to test the new system. One big worry of previous version is that they were "maxing out" too easily. This was really apparent in some challenges recently, this will not happen with the new version, even on old venues like clayhole, sandpits, zander pit, forty hall etc. This means a big impact on records, they aren't going to be reset or "burnt" as the common phrase goes, but there will be two sets available "official" ( starting from blank ) and "unofficial" as of previous versions. This means that all venues will have empty slots for "official records", which may cause a mass flood initially, to counter this, a few ideas are in place such as daily record venue challenges.

Anyway, please accept my apologies for things being offline, the 2008 challenge is going still and being monitored, will try to post later or tomorrow for more changes and developments.

It just doesn't get more "cleared" than that, and for my own questioning I do apologise. You stated exactly what was done and that's exactly what was done.

To you and Mrs. Thorn two thumbs up for standing your ground against a mistaken judgement and coming out the victors.


In the end we're all getting a more secure fishsim and a little less worrying and wondering if the simmer that just whipped our butt did it legally.

Can I just say a big thank you to Jase for all his continued efforts. He would have been quite within his rights to just wash his hands of the whole thing, but instead looks like giving FS2 another boost.

So what if it makes the fishing harder, real life fishing is rarely as easy as the majority of vens.

Anything which will make it more secure has got to be a good thing

Let's just hope that this new update finally puts paid to any more accusations and that we can all use this brilliant sim in the manner for which it was intended.
