Title: Match Fishing
Description: been doing well

johnalexander - December 18, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
Hi all it seems i have been doing well recently in matches and pleasureing despite the freezing cold weather. I have been using sweetcorn with a did (flavor) and also dead maggots with a dip (flavor) i have used the open ended cage feeder with a 2-3 inch hook length (18/20 hook, 3lb line) with this method i have had over 70lb of bream. The tench/Carp also seem to like it. :D

thats the one im using at the minute vfish, i also put a little in my groundbait (swimstim)

this time of year everywhere is hard, silver fish i tend to use bloodwqorm and joker for the small silver fish on pole fishing lite 0.07 presten power line down to sensas competitons joker hook lenghts wich are .06 to 24 hook.

for carp and bream i tend to use swmtim a good carp groundbait with micro pellets mixed in , and also dead maggots with a bit of floavour on aswell... predator plus , give that a go and also a sensas sardine and herring flavouring put a drop of that in water and see what it does lol oils descending threw the water everywhere ..
.. with my maggs i have 3 seperate bait boxs 1 for live maggots, 1 for deads and the other but the a hand full of maggots to cover the bottom of the bait box and pour the liquid in and some water so the maggots are trying to breath and getting lots of air so they float and use a small hooklenght 3 inch and pop them up , they need to be noticed this time of year as the fish wont move around much for baits.

also use a blockend feeder a sponge soak it in the liquid flaovring and use maggot on the hook so the liquid attracts the fish and your hookbait is left there standing out ;)
best achievement was in Browing youth masters and came 6th in a qualifier out of 30 people .. then came 55th out of 100 people in the final people from all over the country :D

hope it works Hodgey..btw is anybody in the van den eynde supercup this year? :D

joker and bloodworm are not allowed on many matches ;)

hodgey - December 19, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
ye sorry john forgot to mention that bloodworm and joker isnt allowed on many matches ... but they allowed in alot this time of year on canels, siver fish lakes

johnalexander - December 19, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
yes, ive never used this bait but i heard they banned it on matches because on the great results .. damn ... :P

hodgey - December 19, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
they ban it becuz of good results in SUMMER AND SPRING AND AUTUM .. winter u struggle for a bite anyway lol only silver fish .. no good for carp its too small... its hard to fish with anyway eventho u get good results u have got to fish it rite ;) by using the shotting patterns on your rigs so the bait falls naturally threw the water , and joker jumps up and down and swims upto 1 feet in the water so fishing off bottom can inprove catches ;)

johnalexander - December 19, 2007 10:21 PM (GMT)
same with bread, you can bag up over 200lb on this in summer, however it is banned ;)

hodgey - December 20, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
bread isnt banned m8 , only on top in alot of fisherires but otherwise iv never heard of i being banned ... if u can catch a carp in winter on top let me know lol  but the main reasn why bread is banned is becuz of people using it not right.. on top and popping it up to the surface and ducks and all other animals get hooks in them then die. but theres nothing wrong with punch bread on bottom . good for roach

johnalexander - December 20, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
bread is banned where i fish because it is so easy to catch on it, nets over 200lb can be had in summer on this (popping it on from bottom) the ducks are not really interested with it here they like it better when you throw the bait in at the end. I wish i had bread the other day actually as the carp were making splashes on the surface ;)

hodgey - December 20, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
ye u do get loads fish on top with it but i think its the worst way of catching fish.. ye its good when pleasure fishing and stalking but theres no skill to it lol cast at the fish and hope lol
but i think we have gone off the subject a bit now john lol

johnalexander - December 20, 2007 01:26 PM (GMT)
yes, so do i but i can guarantee that people will be on bread when pleasure fishing next year :D
