So another WWE top tier superstar bites the dust for an extended period of time. Since TNA can't and won't make this tragedy their ladder to success, maybe the WWE should push a superstar who needs that little extra bump into the land of giants like Triple H, Batista, Orton, and Cena. That Superstar is Mr. Ken Kennedy, who has himself been at the front of two major injuries over the past six months.
Both Bobby Lashley and John Cena have had injuries, both have been put out in the manner of matches with Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy was not at fault for either one in reality, but why not work this angle into a solid gold storyline and have Kennedy claim he was responsible for Cena?
Randy Orton has his "Legend Killer" persona, and besides the HBK angle, Orton has surely killed no legends (sorry Randy, spitting in Harley Race's face is not killing him). But Ken Kennedy has the potential now to say he put out two of Raw's top stars. Both Lashley and Cena were over huge with the fans, and although booed occasionally, Cena can say he is the WWE's most popular superstar. Both were accomplished champions; Cena had his reign of over a year with the title and Lashley had come off a big program with Mr. McMahon when he was drafted to Raw and then injured.
Mr. Kennedy had a small promo about how he hurt Lashley, so why not have a big promo recounting how he put both John Cena and Bobby Lashley out of action? He would get major heat eventually once he went after, say, the likes of Triple H or even the potentially returning Chris Jericho. Even taking down mid-carders right away like a short program with Jeff Hardy would get him major heat, making him a legit heel superstar.
Being able to say you put out John Cena is big - very big. Cena has been nearly unstoppable since his program with Edge. He has beaten Triple H on more than one occasion, bested HBK at WrestleMania and crushed Umaga, and taken down Orton on two straight pay-per views. Keeping the belt in title matches at both WrestleMania and Summerslam in the same year make Cena one of the most dominant champions ever. Now you have Ken Kennedy who in his first night back from suspension who has a match with Cena that takes him out for possibly a year.
This is what Mr. Kennedy needs; he always needed that extra push into superstardom. Two times he has fallen short of this, once by a misfortunate injury, the other because he was part of a scandal. He would have two programs ready to go when both Lashley and Cena return. He would have potential programs with Triple H, HBK (if he comes back), and even Orton, saying he did what they couldn't do. Cross brand programs with Edge, Batista, and even Undertaker with his resume boasting of "taking out" Raw's top guys would be fresh, new, and add life to his character.
Sure the WWE could say Orton helped in the injury, but he is already over as a heel, and soon he will be Triple H's entrée when Hunter decides Randy is too close to being the top guy on Raw. Mr. Kennedy is over; as people either love him or hate him. Not since The Rock have fans been more flip-flop with a heel. The time is right and Raw needs heels. If Jericho does indeed come back, WWE is crazy if they think they will get fans to boo him right away, so then you will have Triple H and Chris Jericho as your faces, and only Orton as a top heel. Why not make Ken Kennedy big this time? There is nothing stopping him anymore - no injuries, no scandals, only the future and the future of WWE.
If WWE wants to fix their product, then it is time to capitalize on Mr. Kennedy, capitalize on what has happened in the past and currently. Orton will get stale fast as a heel, Umaga is a "flavor of the moment" gimmick, and if they do move Mark Henry over to Raw then we all know how bad those matches will be. WWE has a chance now to make a close to main event heel a true player in company. He can electrify audiences, cut killer promos, and have epic matches with top face superstars. His time has come and that man is non-other than Mr. Kennedy... Kennedy.
