How is your fast?

I'm not doing so great, myself. Toddler is nursing A LOT.

What are you doing to connect to the day? Happy Mom posted video links on her blog-- check that out if you are looking for something. She recommended something on the Gush Katif expulsion, which is still way to raw for me.

I've watched half of this with the kids, I found it last night: Wake the Dawn video.

What are you up to?

Edited to clarify that I am actually suggesting going to Happy Mom's blog for good video ideas because she has a good list up.

Baby nursed more last night than ever in his life. Sigh. We'll try and watch your video. I did reading lessons with the kids and delievered some muffins to a neighbor who just had a baby. We read a bit about tisha b'av with the kids. I tried to read a bit from Life Is A Test with my husband, but we didn't get far because the kids were wanting to do something else. (((hug)))

My toddler just mushed clay into my hair without my realizing it.

Less than an hour left to the fast. I have forgotten the meaning of the fast, I'm just hoping to hold on to consciousness at this point.

Fasting makes me a terrible parent, btw. How do you mitigate the effects of essentially losing access to higher functioning? Because the best I can do is, "please, it's not about you. Just don't talk to me until this is over".

On a separate note, I asked 14 yo ds why it is that when he shoves his door closed, I can't seem to open it, but 2 yo dd can. His response: "Eema, it's because you are interested in my psychological well being".

Keeping an eye on the big picture-- I might be a meanie mommy on 9 Av, but the kids know it's temporary and not about them. They know I care, I just can't express it very well when fasting.

I hope.

we paired our kids into buddies 7 dd with 3.5 ds and 6 dd to 1.5 dd then told them you have to look after your buddies today..then they had all their meals made by my oldest and they evenmade ice cream sandwiches .

it precluded me from having to enter the kitchen until and hour before the fast ended where i made chicpea brownies and french toast smile.gif

B"H I'm not fasting because even eating what I need to, I keep feeling like I'm fasting. I guess it means that baby is nursing well and that I really do fall into the category of recovering from childbirth.
I was slightly concerned for dd, because this is her first 25hr fast, and yesterday she wasn't feeling great. But, she's doing OK so far (with about 1.5 hrs to go) despite having a stuffed up nose and slight headache.
My other kids don't "get it" about tisha b'av, and I've had a challenging time keeping them occupied without fighting. It's given me lots of opportunities to work on showing unconditional love and trying to teach them not to fight.

My fast was pretty dismal. I donated blood on Friday and likely should have put that off until this week. (They called and were low on my blood type and I still am a sucker for guilt!) It also didn't help that I was the only one in the family fasting since dh has diabetes and the kids are...kids. I slept most of the day and dh wrangled the kiddos. I've had more meaningful fasts before, but it wasn't horrific, either.

Today I'm drinking a ton to make up for it. smile.gif

I feel like I was hit by a falling piano, and I didn't give blood on Friday!

As a mom of a blood recipient, THANK YOU.
