This is one of the 3 fasts before DD2's Bat Mitzvah (specifically her very last fast before her BM) so she's fasting, but not entirely used to it. DD1 is asleep but DD2 is awake and difficult to deal with.

Meanwhile, I'm getting over a GI virus (so not fasting but feeling icky from not eating very much over the past 2 days) plus AF is due to arrive tonight!

I'm thinking my Wicked Witch costume is going to be VERY appropriate!!!

I can commiserate with your DD. Being either pregnant or nursing (or both) for the past several years, I haven't been fasting on small fasts, only Tisha B'av and Yom Kippur. And it's very hard for me - I guess, not enough practice, and being in the house all day, having to feed the kids etc.... I am cranky big time when I fast.

Refuah sheleimah to you, and give my hugs to your DD! She'll make up for it on Purim!

We hold only to fast on Yom Kippur before the age of mitzvot, but this was my daughters' second fast. They were pretty ok, actually, especially considering how nasty they get when they're dehydrated on a normal day.

I, myself, had a fever last night (just a flu, nothing to worry about), so dh assured me that it would be just wrong to fast. Useful to have a rabbi type around.

So I, ironically, had 5 kids fasting, and myself - not. shrug.gif

QUOTE (LearningFromExperience @ Mar 20 2008, 05:55 PM)
We hold only to fast on Yom Kippur before the age of mitzvot,

Well, she's about 2 months away from being 12 (1 month from her English birthday) so we'd be dealing with this next year anyway.

It worked out OK in the end. I'm still cranky because I got my period today on top of being sick, so my Wicked Witch costume is so appropriate today! grin.gif

But I'm annoyed that we missed the start of the Megilla reading because DD1 was fussing with her costume. Banghead.gif
