Clearly neglecting my kids to be here this much Group: Members Posts: 1,636 Member No.: 146 Joined: 3-July 08 |
DD is 15mos, and has a stomach bug. Yesterday she couldn't even tolerate the bite of graham cracker I gave her. Ped said breastmilk only till she has a more normal poopy diaper and isn't vomiting. She wants to nurse almost constantly, and I'm having a hard time with the milk production, which is frustrating for both of us, and wearing me out.
I'm drinking as much as I can, and am not dehydrated, and eating as hunger dictates (I've had a borderline case of this bug for a week - since the first kid got sick with it). Any ideas on how to get through what I hope will only be about one more day? |

Take it easy. Really. Sit down a lot. Stay home (especially since you think it will likely be only one more day). Get takeout.

Can I take that as permission to leave the dirty dishes from last night? Wish we could do take-out, but too many delicate tummies here, still. I'm chugging powerade (nasty stuff, but past experience shows that it has helped my milk supply when sick or fasting). I've been trying to take it easy, as I am not feeling great myself, and I'm exhausted. Not that there's been much opportunity to do much because she's nursing so much! Not sure what else to do to increase my supply quickly, as she is nursing all.the.time! |

Can you give her water? Or pedialite? Your milk supply won't increase in one day. It takes about three days to increase it. But it could also be that she's just nursing for comfort.

I think there's a lot of comfort nursing going on, and that's one of the brachos of nursing a toddler - the ability to provide comfort.
But, I'm having a hard time with being so attached all the time in this heat, especially because I'm run down and exhausted to begin with. I've been offering her a cup of water, and she's drinking it a bit, but she wants to nurse, too. I'm hoping my stomach can handle oatmeal in the morning - that should help my supply. I guess we are nearly at the 3-day mark. She started this bug shabbos morning. |
