DH has been busy.

http://www.torahforum.org/Halachos_of_Superheroes.pdf

addresses questions such as "Is a superhero liable for collateral damage that he causes?" "Does mind-reading violate the Cherem of Rabbeinu Gershom?" and "Can a superhero fly past Techum Shabbat?", in full Halachic depth, with sources.

Pass it on to the guys in your life

I passed it along to my dh, who asked me to let your dh know that he thoroughly enjoyed it. Considering our recent shabbos table discussions about whether you can use a light sabre to slice challah on shabbos, this was right up his alley. I think I know what we'll be talking about at our Purim seuda!

Topic suggestions for next year:

The halachos of Star Wars
(Cutting challah w. light Sabre is good...Sabres on Shabbas? For Self-defense? Is belief in the Force Avodah Zara or Monotheism? Are Episodes 1-3 Kefira?)

My DH: THAT was her DH??? I saw that a bunch of places today and IT IS AWESOME.

Well, I don't call him DH to his face even on weekdays, no wink.gif And I referred to LfE by her name (he's used to me saying "LfE says...").

Thank you so much! I will definitely tell him, it will make him very happy

Someone wrote back with questions like "if Superman were to convert, how would you do his bris mila?"

As for Star Wars, it all depends on the questions ... let's see ... if droids are sentient, and they run away from their master, can they be returned, or can one say, "these are not the droids you're looking for"

Wolverine's brit would pose a bigger challenge.

Yes, I was reading the printout my ds had on shabbat. It's a brilliant work. I was saddened by the introduction, though-- why doesn't that go without saying anymore? What kind of crazy are people these days that they are looking for kefira in Purim Torah?!

... it's sort of the point of good Purim Torah, anyway... duck.gif

One of the people we had sent it to originally didn't get it, and thought it might somehow belittle Halacha (a lot of Purim Torah does). Yossi wrote that paragraph in response to him, and I guess he wanted to include it here, too, to make sure nobody misunderstood what he was trying to accomplish.

Once something goes out to the world, one might easily lose control over how it is interpreted and what people do with it.
