WolfKes had whimpered once in a while, when the male werewolf who was carrying her sometimes rubbed against a cut. She couldn't help it. But she stayed quiet for the most part. Except for once in a while trying to turn her head to lick at a open wound, WolfKes held still as well.
They had gone rather far from the outskirts, into the wilderness. The wilderness... where it was safe. The night was cool, and there were clouds in the sky, sometimes obscuring the moon. Plenty of noises, life of the night, surrounded the three. The pack. Yes, WolfKes liked the sound of that. Deep down, Kes thought it... odd that she was so trusting of these strangers. But that was what being a werewolf was about. Despite any need to be alone, you longed for a pack, even if you went off on your own a lot. A base, to come back to. It was the wolf side in them all. So, actually, it really wasn't all that surprising that the wolf was so willing to accept help from these two strangers. WolfKes felt a bit awkward being carried, and probably would have stirred a bit more, had she not been injured and had the one carrying her not been a werewolf. Then again... there were FEW who would be able to carry a fully shifted werewolf, considering when on all fours, a werewolf's shoulder was at the same height as that of a normal person. Werewolves were strong. Very strong. But still, WolfKes was hurting, and being carried... didn't help things. She whimpered again as the male werewolf shifted his grip on her. Though at this point, WolfKes didn't have a choice. Both the Wolf and Kes wanted to be safe. Perhaps they were far enough away to be so. WolfKes looked and saw a watchtower, standing tall above the trees a distance away. Close enough though... that there was the odd feeling that they were being watched. And WolfKes couldn't help but raise her hackles a bit at that, even though she would not be much help in a fight. |

Cedric had been carrying Kes all the time, shifting her weight a little from time to time but walking away from the party place further and further. He hadn't picked a straight route, sometimes crossed dirty bodies of water to hide their scent, heading towards the wilderness. Only a few people would dare to follow them here, would dare to hunt a pack of werewolves... yes... a pack... somehow it felt odd to have company again after the passing years... or months... he couldn't quite remember...
But he would remember Kes and Sam, he was certain. Strangers to him, he did not even know their names... but he knew more than that. He knew they were wolves deep inside, knew them better than any other human being could... because they weren't human. Not completely... they were more... all three of them. And that was reason enough to carry a complete stranger through the worn streets, trusting another stranger to look for their backs... Raising his head a little he tasted the air, searching for danger, for those damned angels... but did not find anything. Except for those giant towers looming over them. Watching them. Silently. Watching every move they made... Shrugging a little he found a dark ruin with almost clean water closeby. Something he had been looking for all the time. It wasn't a good place to rest but better than most. And they all needed a break, he couldn't deny that any longer. His muscles were tired, burning from carrying a fellow werewolf so long. A normal human wouldn't even been able to lift the weight he had carried... for how long? Hours? It felt like that. He had been as carefull as possible but he knew quite well that it must've hurt a lot. But better alive and hurting than dead and cold... He set down his burden as carefull as he could, making sure he wouldn't hurt Kes even more. He eyed her for a mere second, his human self trying to keep him away from those strangers, but it wasn't strong enough. Crouching down at her side he begun to clean her wounds with his tongue, especially those she couldn't reach herself. An infection wasn't something they needed currently. A human might have found it odd to lick the face of a stranger... especially if it was a furred face... but it didn't bother Cedric. He had found a pack and he would even rip the dragon apart to keep it. Other wolves might have more trouble coming this close to him now that he had one, but those two here... no, he wouldn't allow his human to push them away again. He had missed a pack for so long... for so damn long... ((I assume Sam is still with them? Otherwise I need to change this a little... ;) )) |

((Yes, yes. Sam is still here!))
Unlike Cedric, it seemed mere moments from the time of the attack to the time they made it to the towers. None seemed to have followed them yet, and any creatures that might have been in the woods fled before the sight of three werewolves, even if one was injured and being carried. It was an odd feeling protecting two of her kind she had barely met, barely knew anything beyond what they were. Yet there she was, guarding the backs of the others, her pack. Yes. Pack. That sounded right. Never before had Sam been in a pack, unless the one werewolf who Changed her could be counted, but was probably long dead from his own stupidity. The human part and the wolf part of her were in agreement that a pack was a good thing, that to have others was what they needed to survive. They had been alone too long. With the pack, she could learn from the others, perhaps begin to trust her wolf more. And so she followed the male, constantly sniffing the air for signs of pursuit. Her blue eyes scanned the darkness around them, seeing much deeper than a human could ever hope to. But nothing followed them that her wolf eyes could see. And they stopped. The male began cleaning the wolf's wounds. Hopefully they would heal quickly, like a normal wolf, and they would most likely heal much faster in a wolf than a human. The wounds would be deadly in a human. Sam walked over and hunkered down nearby the other werewolves, keeping her eyes, ears, and nose tuned to the darkness, searching for any sign of pursuit by those damned angels. |

The male werewolf put WolfKes down. He seemed to be trying to be careful with her and for that Kes was grateful. The other werewolf, the female, seemed to be prowling and scouting the ruins, as if to make sure all was well and safe. The ruins seemed a good place to stay. It was good defensively, and there was the sound of water nearby for drinking.
WolfKes looked up at the male who regarded her for a moment, before kneeling and began to lick her wounds. WolfKes whined, because it did hurt. But at least she was alive. She concentrated on also cleaning her wounds, focusing on the scratches on her leg. WolfKes felt safe. She also felt... whole. Being part of a pack now, it was as if she had suddenly had something that had been empty inside of her filled. A sense of belonging, safety. The pack was one, a unit. They protected her and she would protect them. All lonliness she had felt seemed to vanish the moment she became part of this pack. And it was a pack. It felt almost as if she had returned to a home she never knew she missed. But now that she had it... WolfKes did not want to lose it. Ever. The male werewolf suddenly began licking the wounds on her face. Kes pushed through the wolf mind, for an instant taking full control. The wolf allowed her, knowing what she had in mind. Kes pawed at the male werewolf with her good paw, trying to get him to look her in the eyes. She tried to convey her gratefulness to him in her eyes, unable to find any other way to speak in this form. Then Kes whined loudly at the other werewolf, trying to catch her eyes to convey the same gratefulness for both of them. For being here with her, for helping her when she was wounded, for giving her a pack. The wolf took back the dominant control and WolfKes began panting from the pain of her wounds, and from tiredness. |
