OVERRUN!
Thomas' Great Adventure

Chapter One: Devil's Evil Deed

Ah, yes, Devil. I've heard of him. Isn't be the barbaric engine who works in the Sea Caves? Yep, I think that's him.

It all began in the Sea Caves. Devil and his almost-as-evil driver had finally realised thier dream. They had found the Green and Yellow Diamonds.

Doctor Le Strange (You may have heard of him, too) was forced to combine them. Devil laughed...and a huge boom erupted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was an ordinary day on the Island of Sodor. The sun shone, the birds sang, and Thomas the Tank Engine pulled his ever faithful coaches into Maithwaite Station.

"You're happy today, Thomas," said Percy, a small green saddletank.

"Oh, I am," Thomas replied, "I'm going to take a special visitor on a run to Ffarquhar!"

"Be careful not to let it go to your smoke-box," laughed Percy, as he shunted out of the station.

Thomas arrived at the Big Station. No-one was out, it was Sunday. The visitor was in the refreshment kiosk having lunch. Thomas simmered happily.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The roof above nearly shattered as a huge wave boom passed by.

"Cinders and Ashes!" cried Thomas.

"What's going on?" Jim, the driver, exclaimed.

"Dunno," said Fred, the fireman, "The guard should tell us in a minute."

Henry arrived. But instead of saying hello, a large amount of electricity came out of his pistons, zapping Thomas!

"OUCH!" Thomas cried, "Henry, how-"

"I'm to destroy you, Thomas," said Henry, "Orders of Master Devil himself!"

"Oh bunker," groaned Thomas.

The guard (Deakin) jumped into Clarabel, and Thomas raced off, closely followed by Henry.

"The Fat Controller will hear of this," muttered Fred.

"Really?" said Jim, sarcasticly.

"Faster, faster!" Annie and Clarabel panicked, as Gordon began to chase, fire erupting from his funnel.

"Percy, help!" said Thomas, rushing through Dryaw. But instead of helping, Percy laughed evily, and tried to tie Thomas up in rope-like steam!

"Even Percy?"

James and Emily levitated trucks in Thomas' path at Wellsworth, but Thomas raced through.

"Go, Thomas, Go!" yelled Edward, who was un-affected by anything, and held hostage.

At last, Thomas could see the bridge to the mainland. Mavis was at Vicarstown, in a siding. Suddenly, she disapeared!

Thomas had no time to worry, he raced over the bridge, just as Mavis re-apeared in Barrow. Purple lightning flashed, and Mavis laughed.

Thomas couldn't stop. He just waited for the crash, bewildered about that had happened to his best friends...

Chapter 2: Salvage!

A few hours later, two green engines, a small tank engine and a larger tender engine, were on the otherside of the Bridge with a Breakdown Crane.

The bridge had changed. The middle had plumeted into the sea. This, of coarse, was a salvage mission.

"What if we fish out a ghost," grumbled the big engine, "Not that I'm scared or anything."

"You scared, Thompson?" mocked the tank engine.

"Tank engines these days," muttered Thompson, "Never respecting thier elders!"

"Typical," the tank engine mocked.

"VICTORIA II!" Thompson yelled.

"Quit it with the two," grumbled Victoria.

"I think I've got something!" said the crane, "A biggun, too!"

The crane hauled at all might...and a sad, soggy Thomas emerged from the waves.

"By jove, an engine!" said the crane.

"Southern E2, as well!" said his operator.

"Well, I'll be..." said Thompson.

Thomas was lifted onto the rails.

"Got another one!" crane said, "A lot lighter too!"

Annie and Clarabel, along with Jim, Fred and Deakin, emerged.

"Take it they're Sodor stuff," said the Crane, "All the Hatt modifications point to it."

"Thanks, Crane," said Victoria, as she pulled Thomas, Annie and Clarabel away from the bridge.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, on Sodor, things had changed for the worse. The humanity of Sodor had run for the hills around Peel Godred, except the railwaymen, who were in captivity with Edward, Oliver and BoCo.

Devil had turned Knapford into his own throne, while the engines upgraded Tidmouth Sheds into thier own lair. Even the famed SS Vienna was refused entry into Brendam Docks.

The Skarloey engines had taken to the hills for safety. Sodor, now Traindor, was a strange new place.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at Barrow-in-Furness, Thomas was being steamed up. It was good to feel warmth spread through his boiler.

"Thanks, Victoria."

"Oh, Thompson just calls me that because he's an idiotic snob. Call me Vicky."

Just then, another steam loco arrived. He was big, and his paint was silver.

"Hello, Spencer."

"Charmed, I'm sure," Spencer replied.

"Who's he," asked Vicky, "He looks like one of our engines, but uglier."

"Spencer," chuckled Thomas, glad to see someone sharing his views on Spencer.

"UGLY? Just becuased my wheels arn't covered..."

"Go back to Boxford, Spencer, Sodor Bridge is down."

Spencer puffed away, bemused.

Soon, Thomas was taken up to Carlisle.

"We'll rest here tonight," said Vicky's driver.

That night Thomas waited until Thompson was asleep. Then he told Vicky everything, from Henry to Percy and Mavis.

"Guess that explains what happened to the bridge," said Vicky.

"Now what do I do?"

"You can get to York on our line, but its risky. If Mr Steven finds out..."

"You'll be punished."

"Yup, especially since I'm leading you there."

I've got an idea," said Deakin, "We tell Mr Steven."

The engines nervously had to agree.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr Steven is assistant manager of the Forth Central Railway. Deakin, Jim and Fred told him. Mr Steven had to be convinced that this was the truth.

"OK, I choose to agree, what with the bridge, but can Thomas work here for a few days? A pannier called Jack will be here in a few days, but while that happens, I need Thomas to do some light work."

The crew had to agree.

Thanks! Forthshire is actually an established creation of mine!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forthshire

Thomas found it hard to sleep at the big shed called Ailm Melle Common. The engines were great to him (aside a few) but it just wasn't the shed at Ffarquhar, where he and Percy would talk for ages before going to sleep. Without his friend, Thomas felt awkward and alone. Whatsmore, a storm had rolled in from the sea, and the shed was battered by rain and wind.

Ailm Melle Common is big and covered. The engines were protected from the rain, but all the same, it didn't feel right. The turntable shouldn't have been under a roof.

Thomas heard the door shut. The foreman shut the door and turned the lights out. Now it was dark, and Thomas began to feel very small. He looked around. Nothing appeared friendly at all.

A large engine, Sir William Johnston, let out a loud snore. Thomas rolled his eyes, and went into a troubled sleep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next morning, Thomas and Vicky organised coaches for the larger engines. They had very different demands. Thompson would only go with coaches designed by his own designer, while Ailm Melle Hall tended not to be fussed. After two hours, Thomas shunted Annie and Clarabel into a platform at the large station of Edwardtown.

The weather hadn't changed, and by the time Vicky had organised 3 suburban coaches for her train, they were both very wet.

"Well, your driver arranged it with Mr Steven," said Vicky, "We're to go to York first thing tommorrow!"

Thomas' route led him into the hills and fells and pikes around Awdryton. It was a hard job, but he arrived on time.

Next, Thomas had to take come coal trucks from the mine to Edwardtown, where a diesel would take them to Chathill and beyond.

"Here you go," said Barclay, "One load of trucks for your enjoyment."

The green piano tank clanked off up to the coal loader.

Thomas huffed down the hills, pushing his trucks, but the trucks were bored.

"Let's push this creepy blue engine," they hissed, "ON ON ON!"

Before anyone could stop them, Thomas thundered downhill.

At Patricktown Yard, Vicky was taking on water and talking to Jessica (a medium size standard tank) and Katie (A large standard tank). They heard Thomas in the distance.

"HELP!"

"Quick!" yelled Katie, "Someone get to Edwardtown, quickly!"

Vicky raced off, hoping to beat the runaway to the end of the line.

Thompson had finished his run and waited for the signal to leave. First Vicky thundered in, then and clanking noise.

"Oh tender."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Good thing you were pushing," said William, in the shed that night, "Thompson would be more damaged then he is now."

"And," Katie added, "Good thing his coaches were empty."

Thomas grunted indignatly.

"Cheer up," said Robert Barrowman, "You'll soon be home. They've started work on re-building the bridge, and York will take good care of you!"

Thomas sighed. He wished he could tell him the truth, but Jim, Fred, Deakin, Mr Steven and Vicky had all told him not to.

Thomas settled down, and the engines all said goodnight.

"It will be," yawned Robert, tiredly.

How wrong can one A3 be?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very.

Back in Barrow, some diesels and a few cranes were working on the bridge. A puffing noise was heard.

"Steamer?" said a diesel, "Can't be!"

But Spamcan and D261 squealed in fright, and soon the diesels were rushing for cover.

Devil, Percy, Mavis and James watched as Barrow became a mess of de-railments. Then Devil turned, and the bridge remains collapsed to the sea.

"Right, to Ailm Melle Common," chuckled Devil.

Thanks! As soon as I find my fics about them, I'll post them.

As its not tommorrow yet (I only write a chapter a day, by rule) I'll give a sneak peek of places the story will take place. On the coarse of the next to chapters, we'll mneet up with Flying Scotsman and Stepney, but first, Thomas, Vicky and the engines of Forthshire will suffer a terrible surprise, right at Alim Melle...

Sure, but I'm still thinking.

Chapter 4: Ailm Melle and the Horizon

The Workshops at Ailm Melle worked hard to repair Thompson's smokebox. The Head of the locomotive department was first to hear a puffing, but thought it was a night train.

Thomas woke up. He realised he'd heard a noise that'd had woken him up. It was a puffing. It grew closer and closer.

"Probably just Thompson, back from mending," he muttered, and drifted back to sleep.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Thomas woke up with a start as the shed door (and much of the wall it was attached to) was blasted, creating a huge hole! There was Percy, Mavis and James.

"What the-" William yelled.

"Shut up, you stupid Brittannia," James yelled, "Hand over Thomas and I won't destroy ALL of you."

"All?" Katie muttered.

"Yeah, we'll leave one or two," James sniffed.

Percy used his rope-steam to lift some trucks out of a siding and into the detenator storage at the side of the shed. James levitated William's tender away onto the roof, smashing part of it.

Finally, Mavis zapped off the rest of the roof, but a siren was heard in the distance. The gnines vanished as quickly as they came.

"Phew," said Robert, "The fire brigade. But Thomas..."

Thomas sighed, and explained everything.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Ready?"

"Ready."

Thomas and Vicky looked ahead fearfully. But all the same, they headed beyound the junction at Chathill to the south.

Sorry the chapter was so short. Better next time.

GNER Troubles

Newcastle-upon-Tyne had a huge station. Thomas felt nervous as he headed toward it, electric trains passing, eying him suspiciously.

"Arn't scared, are you?" laughed Vicky.

"No, no, just never seen such a big station!"

"Get used to it," said Vicky, "York is much bigger!"

They stopped for water at a museum in Darlington. There stood an old fasioned engine called Locomotion.

"Going to York, are we," he said in a deep Yorkshire accent, "'Spect an engine of your fame's bin there before!"

"Yes, once," said Thomas, as he fondly remembered Green Arrow, who'd just come out of the workshops.

"The Scotsman's down there nowadays," Locomotion explained.

"Really?" said Thomas?

"Yup," said Blue Peter, a large engine that looked a bit like Gordon with smoke deflectors.

"I've met him," smiled Thomas.

"I remember him from Kings Cross," said Blue Peter proudly.

As the two tank engines headed back to the mainline, they were stopped.

"One of our 225's has lost current in it's pantographs," he said, "Can you take it as far as York?"

"Certainly!" said Jim, "Hear that you two. You're a High Speed Train!"

The engines were excited! Thomas took one end with Annie and Clarabel, while Vicky and her breakvan took the back. Puffing hard, they left for York.

The shunters and high speed trains alike talked about it for weeks. Even Iron Duke was impressed when the two tank engines brought the train smoothly into Platform 2, where the passengers changed to a DMU.

"Thank you," said a power car, and the two smiled as they huffed into the NRM for a well earned rest.
