Garff actually thought this guy was NHL coaching material. Twice (on the interim appointment and then on the contract extension). Laughable. |

First off Overspeed did not take over my computer.
This is me coming in after game is over to vent. Speaking of Moulson. VERY SOFT game. Not just him, most of our wingers in 3rd period NOT covering their check in defensive zone and WATCHING the puck carrier (see 3 3rd period goals by Bruins). Overall, and I talked about this earlier this season. Matt Moulson is a SOFTY. I WANT him to remain an Islander because he takes abuse and goes to dirty areas to get the passes from Tavares but on the forecheck, he needs to learn how to FINISH checks instead of stopping and stick checking. For the season??? Matt Moulson has ONLY finished 31 checks thus far. For a winger on top line that is unacceptable. Michael Grabner??? WAY worse despite missing 4 games as he ONLY finished 15 checks for the goddamn YEAR!!!! Fundamental hockey, GOOD work habits like FINISHING CHECKS is essential to wearing down your opponent so the sh!t that happened in 3rd period this afternoon does not. A transition game through neutral zone with opponent storming your crease while your soft forwards watch the puck is a recipe for disaster. ONCE again, the ABOVE is something you will NOT hear from Butch Goring NOR read in majority of NYI BLOG BOX unless they come here and LIFT it. Bring it bitches. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() Showing zero tolerance for koolaiders and SnoWang apologists since 2007. How about Goring's little line when game just ended?
"Still, I saw alot of good things from the islanders, but that's me..." After which you could almost hear Howie gasp. Why not just say, Islanders just overmatched in this one? Wasn't a very physical game but we lost 2 thirds of faceoffs B's won 36 to our 18 and we were outshot again. This is why you MUST do the fundamentals CONSISTENTLY when you do NOT have the DEVELOPED talent. The guys who play the most minutes need to contribute with the checking to balance out the majority of hits you get with the 3rd/4th lines so collectively you can wear down the opponents defense over 60 minutes. Otherwise??? You see them storm your zone and crease in 3rd because they know it's pond hockey. Pathetic. Capuano, that piece of sh!t Scott Allen and Chynoweth need to go. Keep Weight for powerplay, only thing getting god direction from any pulse behind the bench. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() Showing zero tolerance for koolaiders and SnoWang apologists since 2007. I think Butch tried his best to say the Bruins were a much better team without actually saying "The Bruins are a much better team." He's not allowed to say that over the air. Anyone with a little bit of hockey knowledge can realize that the Bruins are superior to us, but they don't say it over the air so the know-it-alls who come here to tell us that the Islanders do a good job don't find out that the team sucks.

You want a more misleading stat, how many checks were hard hits and not just roll into checks? The Isles, save for Martin and half of Hamonics, hit like they have germophobia. I'd venture to say 10-15% of our hits should even count. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Wanger orders them to apologize after every "hit." -------------------- "clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS
"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann |
