As devastating as the Yaroslavl accident was and the conditions under which some clubs operate, does anyone think this may have perturbed some of it's players including the locals remaining in the KHL?

[QUOTE=By The Beard Of Jethro,Oct 13 2011, 03:40 AM] As devastating as the Yaroslavl accident was and the conditions under which some clubs operate, does anyone think this may have perturbed some of it's players including the locals remaining in the KHL? [/ All it did was expose Russias need for better airline regulations. To be honest it may even hasten some players departure.

Very disappointing news, but really cannot blame the kid. He wants to be close to sick mother. I have a TON of respect for him.

Add to that how Nino's been treated, and finishing last for 5 straight seasons and the decision is easy to say with mom. -------------------- ![]() 5/24/1980=Greatest Day in NY Islanders history. 10/24/2012=Darkest Day in NY Islanders history "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."-Ben Franklin "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."-Thomas Jefferson |

He signed a new contract in the KHL. Sick mother, upcoming CBA uncertainty. It hurts the org but seems like the best decision for him.

Let him stay. I am a little surprised he signed so quickly.

Don't blame him at all. He'll probably stay there until he turns 27 and becomes a UFA.

Ah, Garth Snow as a goalie and those extra large pads. That was a way better Garth Snow than we have now.

I think a lot of the Kool-Aid—Charlie saves us with every breath crowd—don't seem to understand one thing. Charlie Wang "IS" the the most damaging thing to this franchise. Charlies reputation makes bringing in developed UFA talent and developing entry level prospects very hard, to near impossible. We here, all now that Charlies lack of spending money, on competent hockey people hurts our prospects. That means that a huge majority of our prospects, aren't getting the required competent staff they need to become good or in our case with all the top 10 picks to become great NHL players. And of course, what sane, good NHL player in his prime, is going to come here and deal with this never ending horror show. If they hate playing past April, then we do have a shot, I guess. But to your great point Webb20, I am sure, if Petrov doesn't now Wang's reputation, his agent most certainty does. With options to play in Russia for good money and wait out his years to being a UFA, why not. It sure beats being one of the acts in this never ending carnival show. -------------------- ![]() ![]() It is time for Gary Bettman to declare the Islanders are in a State of Emergency and the NHL will simply not allow the current ownership to maintain the franchise as currently neglected. Wang and Snow can handle things! They're smart! Not like everybody says... like dumb... they're smart and they want respect! |

Maybe the best thing for Petrov's career was that initial 3 year deal with the KHL. Hell, he could've been long ruined by now had he come here as a 19 year old.
