i expected much more from figren, i thought he had an outside shot at making the team next year, that is looking more and more rediculous by the second.

I thought it was time for a 2009-10 update.
As most of you know Robin Figren is spending his time with the Sound Tigers this year so I just keep an update of our two goalie prospects along with center David Ullström.

Stefan Ridderwall hadn't a good season at all 2008-09 and is therefore used as Djurgårdens backup goalie so far this year. But maybe this will change later on as Ridderwall has come back in style when given the nod.

Our new Swedish goalie prospect is Anders Nilsson and he was today announced to represent Team Sweden at the WJC in Buffalo/Niagara. He will probably serve mainly as a backup to Jacob Markström who's arguably Sweden's No1. Nilsson has in his rookie year proved to be a solid goaltender and the future seems bright if he keeps developing.

David Ullström has earned a regular spot with HV71 this year and hasn't seen any time with HV71's affiliates Borås at all. He's also on the same line as a former Islander, veteran Swedish star Johan Davidsson, and they are playing really well together.

Great numbers by Ridderwall.

Figren has been a real disappointment. Didn't I hear talk about sending him down to a lower league than the AHL for 'confidence building'?

Well I think Botta has suggested that Figren should go down to Utah(ECHL) much like Trevor Smith did last year to gain his scoring touch but I don't think anyone official has suggested that.

A couple of days late perhaps. I heard about it a few days ago but it appears that the Isles and Stefan Ridderwall are close to a deal.

http://dagbladet.se/sport/1.1990929-ridder...-york-islanders

Quick translation (better than Google's)
Ridderwall negotiating with the New York Islanders

Timrå is hoping for Stefan Ridderwall in goal next season.
Now he comes closer to a contract with the New York Islanders.
The negotiations are initiated.
- It all started quite newly, and we have received an offer to consider, "said Joakim Persson, agent for Ridderwall.

It seems that Anders Lindbäck are on his way to the NHL and now's his proposed replacement Stefan Ridderwall is also about to sign an NHL contract.

Agent Joakim Persson confirms Ridderwall is negotiating with the New York Islanders.

- We have received an offer from them and it came fairly recently. We have a dialogue with the club and his future will be determined in the near future, "says Joakim Persson.

According to Persson Ridderwall hasn't made any decision about his future yet.

- It's either the SEL or the Islanders. Just because he received an offer from an NHL club does not automatically mean that he will play there, "said Persson.

Stefan Ridderwall has been Timrå's main track in the goalie hunt for a long time and if he leaves for the NHL, it means that the club must change tracks in the recruitment of a goalkeeper.

• How is Timrå doing?

- You will have to ask Stefan Lindqvist about that.

None of us will be "signing" because the noise the Isles make in FREE AGENCY will NOT be "deafening".

(bit of a stretch for the sake of humor but wtf)

And Magnus, thanks again for these cool updates. I hope Ridderwall comes over and plays at the Bridge so we can see what we have in him.

This article from today is apparently about an Islanders prospect. Guess who? (answer at the bottom)

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hock...ticle7595251.ab

Star rookie in handcuffs after being drunk: "Not good..."

The star rookie was drunk and was led away by police in handcuffs.

Yesterday his club was forced into have a crisis session and will now take action against the player.

– We are making a mark, said the sporting director to Sportbladet.

It was during a banquet on Friday evening as a SEL player was taken into police custody.
The hockey star was at a beer tent when a police patrol spotted the player and felt that he would leave the area because he was drunk.
The player was not of the same view and the police chose to take care of the player and put handcuffs on him.

He was later taken to his home and is not suspected of any crime.

"A clarification"

Now, however, the club chooses to take action against the player.

– Of course, this is not good for us. We put down a marker and a clarification, said the sporting director.

What does it mean?

– It's something that stays between the player and us.

But are we talking suspension?

– No. Of course it is not good, but it did not lead to any charges. But there is reason to communicate even better about how to represent the club.

Yesterday, the club had a meeting about the incident with the whole team where they clarified how the players should act in similar situations.

According to Swedish boards, the rumor has it it's Islander goalie prospect, Anders Nilsson who's been having too much cheers.gif

Wow, talk about an exclusive!!!

Good new bad news. Good news, our very own Isles friend Magnus in Sweden has an exclusive that NO other isles site/blog has.

The bad, it's one of our drafted goalies involved. Hope he learns from this and wises up.

Great stuff as always.

Well it doesn't seem too serious, and the club's attention to this player should send a clear message to him and all the players on the club.

Thanks Magnus. It's great having eyes and ears resident in Europe keeping tabs on our guys.
