But, in an unexpected turn of events, all eyes are on Uniondale, N.Y., as the Nassau Coliseum is now the focus of an intense bidding war, with four viable partnerships making a run at this potentially lucrative market. The stakes are high, the competition fierce, and underlying stories are many. At stake is one of the most valuable pieces of business up for grabs in recent years.

I have a big disagreement with someone at work.

Weren't no even goals scored against the Isles while Franz Nielsen was on the ice the season before last? I had thought I had heard this.

I'm pretty certain that's incorrect. If it was true. his +/- would have set an all-time record.

That is incorrect. If he hadn't been on the ice for an even strength goal, he never would have been a - in a game since PP and PK goals don't count for +/-.

Here is his game log for the 2010-11 season

http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=84701...season=20102011

I believe he was a +11 on the season, but he was a minus player in 2 of his last three games, so he had to be on the ice for even strength goals.

Franz would have won the Selke as a unanamous vote if that were the case.` He's solid defensively, but he ain't Bob Gainey wink.gif

for the record, a goal scored against on the powerplay counts in +/-.

The shorthanded team all gets a plus, the power play team a minus.

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

Correct. I was referring to if your team scores on the PP or if you get scored against on the PK, it doesn't effect your +/-
