We will win tonight because Freddy Meyer is back. It didn't take long for MR. Brittle Glass to breakdown.

At least Freddy isn't afraid of contact. I'm not his biggest fan but he's more valuable than a guy who was trying to avoid contact for most of the year. -------------------- |

Thank You Billy Jaffe. He just did a top 10 hockey masks list according to him and I have to say,
his top 10 were GREAT. He had a few of my all time favorites. Mike Palmateer, Gerry Cheevers, Kenny Dryden and Mike Liut's famous plain white, but LONG snout mold mask. I haven't watched many Thrashers games yet on Centre ice so I'm curious to see how this new offensive powered team does with it's free agent additions against us even without Kovalchuk. -------------------- ![]() The GOing, GOing GONE system. ANNNNNDDDDYYY! SUTTON! That was quite a goal.

Blake?! Done. Blake's better than Sim.... Pavelec should have stopped it, but I'm glad he didn't.

How's it going over there? Are we playing like we're winning 5-2, or is that just the score?

We looked really good in the first two periods. Good speed and pressure on the forecheck, lots of oppritunities. This third period has been pretty bad though. We're getting outplayed pretty bad right now. We just got a PP though, so hopefully that turns it around. All-in-all, a good showing thus far. |

Back from the barn via post game chipotle celebration:
The +'s: Balanced scoring: Each of the 4 lines potted one. That's how you draw it up. The Defense contributes with 2 of their own. Freddy Meyer getting an assist and dropping the hammer. I love #44. Always. Steady Freddy is my homeboy. This was the system in all it's 'rolling 4 lines consistant forecheck, dirty work down low' glory. Marvelous. The -'s: Jon Sim. Though, as per post game radio: Hunter's back Wednesday. See ya, Simmer. Rolo. Two bad goals. Offense covered for him. Inability to clear on the PK. I've been harping on this. The Streit Gervais tandem missed a few chip outs tonight, one ended up in the net. Great game. Good crowd. Tavares and Okposo are beasts, and if Iceman Matty, Bergenhiem, Tamby, Bails, Franzie and BC start bringing it consistantly, you know what you'll get. WINS. Everyone here was at the barn tonight huh? -------------------- |

Great Game, Here is what I took away...
A) Keeping the puck in the zone - The Islanders over the past few years had very few sustained shifts with the puck in. The shifts that don't result in a goal often, but draws a penalty etc are now happening. Tavares drew the penalty, but they have been so good in those little back-handed chips deap. C) Comeau - One game, not going to go crazy, BUT he is not just a score-sheet player. He back-checked, fore-checked, throws his body, not soft, even played PK. I don't think he is far off of a guy like Bergie (decent player) and Bergie would never come up in being scratched, I think Comeau has to play. D) First Goal - Umm wow. WOW. E) JT - Does he need to get stronger and all that? Yes, because he likes to play behind the net and if he can stay on the puck, he will draw penalty after penalty. BUT two HUGE things for JT: 1) Finds the right areas, he gets to the net then backs up that key step and gives him angles and can dangle through. 2) As a rookie he slows the play down like a Doug Weight. Remarkable as he can wait for the trailer, go to the slot etc. I'm a hard critic and he is impressive in that respect. F) Roloson - Has a little DP in him, would like to see him try to find pucks a little more, he pulls his butterfly and makes him-self big, but I would like for him to FIGHT to see the puck, cut angles off and not get crazy handling the puck. G) Penalties - I LOVE the fact that they really have done a great job of not taking dumb penalties this year. It changes the game and gives them such a chance. Just a very fun game. Okposo is so strong on the puck and his balance has come a long way. Franz is a good player, Moulson is a solid player. They go to the Net, the D-Men are back, just a lot of good things. I think Hunter for Sim will help and let's hope they get 7 plus points. Need at least six. eight plus is solid. A lot of fun right now and seeing systems in play is fun. Would love to see people's opinions on some of my points... |

I agree on all pints tinman.
On the Bergie/Comeau thoughts. Just want to say, where was Comeau's commitment prior to being scratched? I remember him having some lazy shifts, others were great with him hogging the puck only to wind up in never never land. You have to use your linemates or you will piss people off. Let's hope he rings this kind of passion and smarts in all 3 zones going forward. Bergie? one of my favorites despite the lack of production. he never stops working and his work ethic makes me miss Hilbert's. Just one thing I have to say...great to see Josh Bailey make a great move inside the blue with confidence and score a goal scorers goal away from the body like he did on a very good goalie. Tambellini, yet another good effort last night by the way. 6-6-5? not bad for a team that could finish near the bottom. -------------------- ![]() The GOing, GOing GONE system. By Scott Gordon. |

nice game...played good..lets see how they do on the road trip?
and if the Islanders continue to score 3 goals on a consistent basis, I wonder if they change promo to 6 goals score and free chili? once again...the first pp unit looked good in creating scoring chances, but they have to start putting them in net...the other guys after...oh, well..though bailey did score on pp lastnight...need more work on pp.. roli, a little DP? maybe it's really rick in disguise! any hoo, nice exciting game....3 stars..3moulsen 2 tavares 1 comeau |
