I can't see any self-respecting coach wanting to get involved with the Islanders organization right now. bag.gif

I think it will be Laviolette. One thing is for sure — it better be someone with credibility.

The question is — do you really think Wang would be willing to eat any salary for a coach or player he doesn't absolutely have to?

I WOULD LOVE THAT!!!!!

Let's face it. You know Wang knows it was a mistake to can Lavvy espeically with replacing him with the Ray Handley of hockey in SS.

I'm actually surprised no one hired Lavvy for this season. The guy has a ring for frigging sake. The fact that he was replaced by the guy he replaced just shows that Carolina doesn't like that much change.

Lavy is the best coach the Isles have EVER had other than Arbour. Time to bring him in when Gordon gets canned...and I can see that happening by Christmas.

COACHING THE ISLANDERS IS LIKE HITTING LOTTO FOR A SMALL JACKPOT
THEY MAY SIGN FOR 2-3 YEARS
BUT YOU KNOW THEY'LL NEVER MAKE IT
AND THEY'LL SIT HOME WATCHING A JG WENTWORTH COMMERCIAL

How many friggin coaches can a team go through? I think a constant revolving door of coaches for this franchise has not helped. This team hasn't had a coach since Arbour......that's right....since ARBOUR.........that completed more than two straight seasons. That has to change.

Its way too early to pull the plug on Gordon. This team needs stability.

But we'll only get that if the players, especially kids like Bergie, Neilsen, BAILEY show progress along with the team.

I'm not saying we need to go .500 from now to Thanksgiving, but we better not keep seeing the SAME MISTAKES and the SAME LACK OF SKATING in the third period. We saw that last year and if we are seeing it again this year = NO PROGRESS.

Canning the coach on Thanksgiving didn't seem to hurt the Craptials two seasons ago, nor did canning the coach hurt the Pens last year.

I'm not saying doing it will get us into the playoffs. We aren't a playoff team with Jesus Christ coaching us. But we need to see PROGRESS, espeically from the kiddies.

Can you honestly say we are seeing that?

They should only pull the plug on Gordon if they have an experienced coach to replace him. If they have that, then they should absolutely fire him. There is absolutely no excuse to get off to this kind of start. There is enough talent here to NOT be the worst team in the league, even with the awful defense we have.

Right now, there are a lot of personnel that should go, so I'll wait until we're 0-17-3 for the gordon must go chant.

Gordon may suck, but the personnel suck more. We need to live with crap for at least the next year. Face it, there are too many things going against us in all aspects of the hockey world. I won't call for anyone's head until after next year, barring anythign really dumb that he might say or do.

let the players coach themselves...players always win out over coaches anyway. Being a coach nowadays is nothing. Its just some poor putz standing around trying to please a bunch of overpaid unmotivational babies playing kid games.

I think you're kidding yourself Snowy if you think we have enough talent.

I would agree with Snowy. Line 1 and Line 2 are talented enough to have us in games, our defense, if in a trap system, would flourish (compared to now when it looks as if we have a bunch of Jeff Finleys or Eric Carins' out there). Our whole team, if in a sensible Lavy-Year-One system (barely a system, just good coaching) would have more production.

Bailey is suffering with the Gorton demanded "get rid of the puck quick" tactic of Oversuck. I see this eery game. Watching period one against the Sharks, I see our positining has 5 guys on the same side of the ice skating around like they're all following the puck around, NOT THEIR ASSIGNMENTS (if a real coach were there to give assignments).

Lavy had issues again with his lockerroom, so I would be careful. I would hunt for an old school smarts coach who pushes defense first but embraces scoring units.

And If Gorton goes, Snow is next. disgraced.jpg

When we ended last year as the leagues worst, there was absolutely no accountablity. Now, after 6 games into this season, we're battling the Leaf's for the cellar again.

This is not progress bag.gif

Gordon must go !!!

and yes, Lavy would be a welcome addition at this point

The time is at hand. Snowy's right that we do have some talent that we should be showing a better game all around. This not having anything come the end of the game is BS. I swear I've seen better balance on some HS coached teams.

We have guys that like to hold the puck...Bailey, Comeau, Schremp, Tavares, Weight, Streit and Okposo that naturally like to hold the puck and see the play unfold. A system of moving the puck after it's been on your tape for a millisecond is not right for these guys, and THESE guys are the heart of our team. We need a coach that will create a game plan around what little strengths we have and not force the little talent into a concept that's only right in the mind of the coach.
