You just don't know. What if this is just the beginning of this team's success. What if the balance we're enjoying IS this team? We make the playoffs. Stranger things have happened in sports.

I think as long as they don't try to trade some of the "core" players if we are in playoff position I'm fine with making it. If you have to trade a guy like Park/Comeau or someone from Bridge then trade but don't make the Ryan Smyth mistake.

Let this group grow together, if they make the playoffs and get bounced Rd1 so be it, learning experiences for KO, Tavares, Bailey, etc. I'm pretty sure thats the way Chicago handled it with Towes and Kane...then in the off-season they tried to acquire FA's that would further build a playoff team.

You are witnessing the rebirth of the Islander franchise. Embrace it. The future is here and it is now. The only rebuilding we have to worry about is the Lighthouse Project.

And that will happen, too. Why? Because we will have a WINNING TEAM. With that, everything good happens.

Now I'll be serious. Like Nick says, stranger things have happened. If we stay injury free (a big if) I believe we will be in the mix.

Hell, I haven't watched a game yet where I said "we're completely overmatched and out of our league". Even our worst loss of the season, we bounced back and played well.

We have been consistent because of our hard work and adherence to "the system".

If we keep doing that, anything can happen. If it doesn't, okay, truthful expectations before the season were that we wouldn't. And I'm not enamored by a few games. I see this team progressing and continuing to do that will produce positive results.

We can have a big slide (like we started the year) and that is part of the growing pains of a young franchise. If we avoid that, or at least minimize it who knows?

Why are we talking playoffs????

I really just worded the poll badly. I wanted to know if people are starting to believe, that's it. Obviously believing means playoffs, but playoffs are too far down the road.

Everyone knew what you meant even those of us who tease you.

Before the year started, I said this team on paper was a 13th to 15th team.
Best case scenario was finishing 10th in conference.

I still feel that way except when I've watched them the last 4 games.

But then when you factor in our guys being healthy, a couple of the teams weakened and playing through flu viruses and not hitting etc...
you realize over an 82 game season alot can happen.

So the obvious question now becomes, why can't it happen in a positive light for us???
As in 8th seed? Been there before. Seen it all. I still expect them to finish out of the playoffs
despite the recent min surge.

Those of you that tease me? lol. I think I do the teasing around here considering most of you bite my bait.
